The NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicago witnessed multiple dramatic incidents during the race as well as in the cool-down lap. One of those was the clash between 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott of Hendrick Motorsport and Trackhosue Racing driver Daniel Suarez. Fortunately for the drivers the sanctioning body didn’t penalize them for the run-in.
Chase Elliott bumped Daniel Suarez in the final laps and in response, the No:99 Chevy driver bumped the No:9 Chevy in the final corner that cost him over ten positions on the track. After the race the duo had an animated discussion about what went wrong with them as well. Now Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has addressed the situation in his podcast.

Junior highlighted that Suarez has always been a driver who has never hesitated to get back at driver when he gets bumped. He pointed out that the Trackhosue driver has a reputation and isn’t someone that should be messed around, Elliott unfortunately had to learn the lesson the hard way during the street race.
You know, one thing I do know, is you don’t mess with Daniel [Suarez]… Daniel, if you bump into that guy or mess with him, he has this reputation that he’s going to get — he’s coming back. He’s going to get you back. You’re not going to get away with that. That’s Daniel. … Chase learned that the hard way.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Dale Jr. Download.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. explains the crash between the two
Junior in the same podcast earlier explains the how Suarez dumped Elliott. He asserted that it was retaliation for the incident where the No:9 bumped both No:99 and No:6 cars and it forced Surez to pull of an insane left rear hook to move is rival the very next-corner.

Heading into like, the second-to-last corner, Chase bumped Daniel, which sends, bumps the No. 6 into the tire barrier, right? So Daniel’s like, ‘Well s—, I’m sorry No. 6. I’m sorry Brad Keselowski.’ Well, Chase goes by both of them, right, during that situation, so the next corner Daniel’s like, ‘Okay, I’m sending you.’ If you watch the in-car footage, it’s insane. Daniel hooks Chase in the left-rear. Chase didn’t have a chance.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The two drivers seem to be over the incident as they don’t have time to waste on beefs with just a handful of races left in the regular season. They are determined place themselves in the best spot to challenge for the title in the playoffs.
