The NASCAR Cup Series last Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway witnessed a masterclass run from Denny Hamlin, that saw him secure 6th win of the season and 60th win of his career. He is expected to be probably the last driver to achieve this iconic mark, as according to Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. even Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott can’t do it.

In the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, the JR Motorsports co-owner pointed out that Kyle Larson and Joey Logano are two driver who could attain the feat. But he isn’t sure, as he doubts the Hendrick Motorsports drivers is going to race in the sport long enough.

The 33-year-old has 32 wins to his name. He can get to the magical number if he races for at most one more decade. But the Chevy driver seems to have other plans, as he has previously confirmed he wants to explore other racing series, while he is on his peak.

I think Kyle Larson could do it. Maybe Joey [Logano]… Kyle Larson, unless something massively changes it. If he wants to race long enough… I think Kyle Larson doesn’t race long enough…

Then there is his 29-year-old teammate Chase Elliott, who has won 21 Cup races in his career. According to Dale Earnhardt Jr. the 2020 champion is capable of winning 60 races if he stays in the sport long enough, but considering the veteran racers character, there is significant chance that he will retire from the sport sooner than he should.

Chase Elliott’s at 21. Chase Elliott will retire before that’s possible… I think if Chase Elliot wanted to win 60 races and stick around that long, he’d have a shot at it. But I think he [would] get out before. I think he’s like, ‘Alright, y’all. I’m gonna go hide in the hills of Georgia. Never see him again.’

In the same conversation, Junior named the only driver that he doesn’t see retiring early and that is the reigning champion Joey Logano. The ex-HMS driver believes the three times champion will easily pass the 50 wins mark before hanging his wheels.

He expects the veteran to end the career with 55 wins to his name, but if the No:22 driver can perform better in the regular season, with more consistency that number can get close to 60. The fact that the Ford driver will race as long as he physically can gives him advantage over the rest.

Joey needs to run better during the regular season… He’ll get to 50 easy… I think Joey lands around 55 wins in his career… he is the guy that’s going to race… He’s going to race a ridiculously long…he doesn’t give a sh*t about nothing but racing.

Junior also shared his thoughts on 36-year-old Brad Keselowski and his shot at making 60 wins. With his team RFK Racing speed, 40 is the maximum wins they can secure. If he had stayed at Team Penske, he would have had the same chance at the record like Joey Logano.

Christopher Bell, who is 30-year-old and has 13 wins so far might pull it off, if he races in the sport for at least 1.5 decades, as he will be the leader at JGR once Denny Hamlin retires. HMS’s 27-year-old William Byron, who has 15 wins to his name, has a shot as well. But the fact that he will be competing the likes of teammates Larson and Elliott in his peak for win reduces his chances.
