The NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway witnessed some wild moments, and the biggest storyline from the weekend other than Denny Hamlin’s emotional win was an ex-teammate battle. Former Trackhouse Racing colleagues Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez had an altercation post-race.

It was the product of multiple contact they had throughout the race, with a stage two contact being key incident. After calling the Trackhouse driver two faced on his post-race interview, Suarez shared an explanation video on his YouTube channel. On the video, he called out the Chevy driver for unacceptable contact in the cooldown laps.

He hit me on the cooldown lap, which I think is super unacceptable because at that point, we’re already loosening our belts and all these kinds of things. Some people even open their belts completely — that’s not good.

Daniel Suarez defended himself.

Further talking about the point, he admitted how he was unhappy with Ross Chastain not leaving what happened on the track behind. Daniel Suarez insisted that incidents and aggression are part pf racing, as the drivers are always on the edge looking to earn small advantages over their rivals.

For me, the biggest thing is afterwards. What happens on the racetrack, happens on the racetrack. That’s racing, like, everyone is going to get into it with a driver every once in a while. We’re all competitive, we’re all racing, and we’re always threading the needle. That’s part of it.

Daniel Suarez asserted via his YouTube channel.

Furthermore, he explained the different personalities he and Chastain had. In the past the Mexican American respected that difference, but after the animated confrontation where the Florida native said some unwanted things, he has lost that respect. It’s clear that any kind of friendship they have shared is a thing of the past now.

I have known Ross for a long time, and I have always known that he and I were very different kind of people. But that’s OK. I have a lot of respect for him. But the kind of words that he said after the race, it’s just completely unacceptable. That’s chicken stuff, that’s not good. I lost a lot of respect for him as a person, because it’s just not good.

Daniel Suarez added.

Daniel Suarez is really disappointed with Ross Chastain beef

It seems the comments from the veteran really affected Daniel Suarez and he admitted in the video that he is clearly disappointed with how everything playout. The ex-NOAPS champion also highlighted how he didn’t start a fight in the moment, despite getting fired up, knowing he had nothing to gain.

It’s not a good look for him and not a good look for the kind of person that he is, I think…And it was just a little bit sad, to be honest. I really wanted to, I was getting fired up to fight, but what was I going to gain? There’s nothing to gain with that. He’s not the kind of person I really want to fight. But just disappointed.

Daniel Suarez said.

It will take a lot of time and goodwill for the duo to rekindle their friendship. At the moment, the probability of the duo has more run-in the future and having a rivalry are high, considering both Trackhouse and Spire cars have similar pace in 2026.
