The 2026 NASCAR season witnessed Daniel Suarez moving to Spire Motorsports to drive the No:7 Spire Motorsports Chevy, after a heartbreaking exit from Trackhouse Racing. He has proved his worth with some impressive run this year, with the Coke 600 win being the highlight. This inspired Jeff Dickerson to offer his driver a one-year contract extension recently.

One key factor behind his and the team’s success so far this season according to the Mexican-American racer is their balanced driver line-up. Their youngster and best racer Carson Hocevar are in his early 20s, while the No:7 driver is in his early 30s. The third racer for the team Michael McDowell is in his 40’s, putting the team in a position where they get feedback from racer of three different generation and driving style.

Carson (Hocevar) is in his low 20s. I’m in my low 30s, mid 30s, and Michael (McDowell) is in his low 40s. Sometimes, I felt that the gap was too big between Michael and Carson in the way that they think and the way that they were operating. I felt like I came into the picture in a perfect moment to kind of like connect the dots, and it has worked very well.

Daniel Suarez said about Spire.

Personally, this dynamic has helped Daniel Suarez a lot to grow his racing. Michael McDowell helps him to understand the experience side of Cup racing, while Carson Hocevar gives him a young and fresh perspective. The difference among the three races helps them to find the bets set-up to thrive together. Only a handful of teams in the garage has the same luxury in terms of the driver line-up balance as Spire.

I believe I have in me a lot of Michael and I have in me a lot of Carson as well. That’s why I feel like I’ve been able to help the entire team to connect the dots. I’m not saying that in a bad way. I believe that Michael has a lot of assets… the same thing with Carson, but they’re very, very different. There is a lot of things that Michael does way better than Carson, and there is a lot of things that Carson does way better than Michael. So, for me to be able to learn those things and to be able to communicate with both of them, it’s been fun.

Daniel Suarez reveals Spire Motorsports’ greed

In the same conversation later, the veteran racer talked about how the impressive partnership of Hocevar and Spire inspired him to sign the new deal, as he can see the massive potential they have. He also highlighted how the team is not satisfied with their performance, despite having already secured multiple wins this season, as they know they are a side capable of contending for the championship.

I have always known what I’m capable of and I also knew what Spire Motorsports was doing with… Carson. So, in my mind, I’m like, this group has potential. We just need to put the pieces of the puzzle together and, obviously, right now we’re happy, but not satisfied. As an organization, we are greedy people. Even though we are competitive, we want more. We want to be able to have a real shot for a championship in the near future.

Daniel Suarez added.

If Spire and Suarez played their game right, they can build a partnership that would earn them multiple wins, placing them in regular championship contention. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the in the remaining three races of the 2026 season and the rest of his tenure with Spire.
