The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been a nightmare for Kyle Busch to say the least. The RCR driver came into the season with the hopes of redeeming himself after massive drop in performance in his debut season (2023) with the Chevy team after winning three races the first half-of the season. He has often got caught in other people mess or become victim of incident.
This weekend’s race at Pocono Raceway was no different as he was wrecked by Corey LeJoie in the third stage of the race. Now his former JGR teammate Denny Hamlin has discussed the possibility of Kyle Busch winning a race this season via his podcast. He reveals that the veteran has chance to win a race like Joey Logano, given the race doesn’t end in a normal way.
The speed hasn’t been there. Now can he win a race? Yes, Joey Logano won a race from 17th at Nashville. So, it is possible but you’re gonna need some crazy sh*t to happen. The odds are very, very low that you’re gonna win a race running 17th all day. You’re gonna need fuel mileage to be a factor, you’re just gonna need chaos at the end…Denny Hamlin said via Action Detrimental.
He then gave a realistic verdict and admitted that despite him being a Kyle Busch fan, he doesn’t see a legitimate chance of the No:8 team getting a win. Hamlin admitted that it’s not possible for Busch’s team to suddenly become the fastest car on the track.
There’s always a chance. But realistically as a Kyle Busch fan that I am, it’s just not a legit possibility right now from what I’ve seen. I just don’t see them showing up one weekend and then all of a sudden being the fastest car on the racetrack.Denny Hamlin added.
Denny Hamlin reckons that Kyle Busch won’t win a legitimate race in 2024
Hamlin apologized to Kyle Busch fand and proclaimed that their star driver won’t win a legitimate race this season. He backed his argument by pointing towards the inconsistency of the team and how it wont help them in the pursuit of a win despite having the fastest car.
He’s not gonna win one legitimately and that’s just a fact and I apologize to the Kyle Busch fans listening, but we have to be honest with ourselves. I’m not putting this on Kyle, trust me I’ve been teammates with him, the guy is elite. He’s great. But you gotta show that you can at least consistently run in the top-five to even have a chance to win, and we haven’t seen that lately.Denny Hamlin said.
Kyle Busch will have tough times ahead of him in the season according to Denny Hamlin and it seems his points are correct, considering the fact that RCR hasn’t shown the progress they should have this year. With five more races left in the regular season, it would be interesting to see how the season would playout for him.
