The NASCAR fans got another opportunity to meet Hall of Famer Carl Edwards, who was the honorary pace car driver at Kansas. He had some great interaction with the fans and the racing community. During one of his interviews, Edwards who was named one of the greatest 75 drivers of the sport, shared intentions of making a comeback.
Carl Edwards has found his love again for the sport, after he suddenly retired in 2016 following his championship failure under controversial circumstances. He seems interested in making a comeback and his former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin is open to helping the racing legend makes this dream a reality.
In the latest episode of his Action Detrimental podcast Denny Hamlin revealed that he has told Carl Edwards that he just has to let him know when he wants to make NASCAR comeback and 23XI Racing will have a car ready for him. He also highlighted how Edwards might not comeback until the horsepower of the Next-Gen cars are increased.
Why doesn’t Carl Edwards want to race in current cars?
The legendary driver won the 28 Cup events in his impressive career by taking advantage of his mastering of the horsepower. He made a career with it and loved the way those races played out. But now that it became a less of factor, he doesn’t get the same fun and also feels he might not be competitive enough.
The fans and the racing community really wants to see the veteran making a comeback and to give him a proper sent off. But it will not be easy for him, as NASCAR seems not interested in playing with horsepower of Next-Gen cars anytime soon. It will be interesting to see if Edwards overlook the issue and makes a return.
