William Byron who drives the No.24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports is the talk of the Motorsports town right now after recently winning the Folds of Honor Qukitrip 500 in Atlanta last week. This win was his first this 2022 season.

Despite having a rough start this year with William Byron getting disqualified at both Daytona 500 and the Auto Club Speedway, he came back really strong as he finished 5th in the Pennzoil 400 and then a P18 at the Phoenix Raceway and then last week bags his first win on the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“I don’t believe Rick Hendrick has any intention of ever letting William Byron out of his grasp,” says Kyle Petty.

Former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty was really impressed with William Byron’s performance at Atlanta and he had only one thing to say, that William Byron will be the future of Hendrick Motorsports and that one-day people will be collating him with Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson and that he doesn’t see that happening with Chase Elliot.

“I think William Byron is the anchor and the future of what Hendrick Motorsports is. I think when William Byron hits his stride, we’re going to be sitting here, and I honestly believe we’re going to be sitting here with comparisons to Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. And I don’t hear that about Chase,” said Kyle Petty on a podcast with NBC.

He also stated saying that Rick Hendrick is determined to keep William Byron with Hendrick Motorsports and further added that we’ve all seen Chase Elliot, Kyle Larson, and Alex Bowman, the fellow teammates of William Byron and Kyle Petty says that it’s amazing that William is too a part of it, and that William’s steadfast.

“I don’t believe Rick Hendrick has any intention of ever letting Byron out of his grasp. You know, I know we’ve seen Chase. I know we’ve seen Kyle Larson and we see Alex just continue to win. And it’s amazing. I mean, he’s just there. He’s solid and he’s there,” Kyle Petty further added.

William Byron will be looking forward to this weekends’ race at the Circuit of The Americas which will be his 150th Cup Series race and he is going to give his best. Will he be able to live up to the claims made by Kyle Petty? Only time will tell.
