From the start of the 2024 season, Chevy giants Hendrick Motorsports has been the team to beat in the championship. All four of their drivers have won races this season, with Kyle Larson leading the charge as wingiest driver with six triumphs. But they have now found themselves in a tough situation going into the R-8 finale at Martinsville.

Though HMS has three drivers in the R-8, most probably only one of them would make it into the finale. Chase Elliott is a must win situation, while William Byron and Kyle Larson will be fighting each other for pointing their way in. HMS vice chairman Jeff Gordon has discussed the possible results of Martinsville race and explained how tough it would be for his drivers, who are past winners at the track.

Basically, you’ve got Chase in a must-win situation. That one’s pretty easy. Bells in a very comfortable position points wise. He would have to have something catastrophic (to miss the Championship 4). So now you look at Larson, you look at Byron and they both run — at Martinsville, Byron won there earlier this year. I think Kyle won last year or the year before

Jeff Gordon said via Happy Hour podcast.

While further talking about the point, Jeff Gordon pointed out that Byron and Larson are going to have a tough fight between them at Martinsville, and he is hoping that fight would be for the win. He is also hoping that Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney, aren’t in the fight for the win.

So, they’re both going to be fighting hard, but you want to be in the scenario where they’re fighting to win, for the win, amongst themselves. You hope it’s not with a Denny Hamlin or with a Ryan Blaney or somebody that’s also on the outside

Jeff Gordon added.

Jeff Gordon explained how his broadcasting gig with Fox helped him

In the same podcast, Jeff Gordon talked about his time with Fox Sports as a broadcaster and why he left it after six years to Kevin Harvick, who just completed his first season as a broadcaster with Fox. He also talked about the things he learned from the experience.

Gordon pointed out that he made a lot of friends during his time with Fox and it helped him to have a deep understanding of the sport. This helped him to better execute his role as the vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports.

I was the right move. I learned so much about a different side of the business by doing TV. I love that. I love the people that I got to interact with, the friendships that I made and the things I learned about business. So, I think it really added a lot of value to what I’m doing now as vice chairman of Hendrick.

Jeff Gordon said.

The experience in the booth helped Gordon to grow as fan as well as a businessman, and it will surlily play a huge role once he potentially takes over the reign of HMS from Rick Hendrick. It will be interesting to see how this revelation will inspire Kevin Harvick, as he is now starting his broadcasting journey.
