One of the biggest topics of discussion in the NASCAR garage recently has been who is the best driver at the moment between 23XI Racing Tyler Reddick and Team Penske Racing’s Ryan Blaney. The TRD racer secured a record five wins in 2026, while the Ford driver has been one of the most consistent performers so far. Three times Joey Logano got a bold take on the debate.

Roger Penske rewarded the 2023 champion for his consistency with a multi-year contract extension, which was announced ahead of Watkins Glen weekend. Talking about his teammate’s new deal, No:22 Mustang driver declared that it was a no-brainer move to lock-in the best driver on the NASCAR Cup garage.

Honestly, Ryan’s probably one of the best driver on check right now. It’s a no-brainer to lock him in. That was my suggestion. I was like, ‘Don’t be too late on this one.’

Joey Logano told Bob Pockrass.

The contract extension was not a surprise, as no one expected the No:12 driver Ryan Blaney to be disloyal with Roger Penske and move to sign with another team. Talking about it, the veteran racer recent pointed out that the team has supported him during his most disappointing moments on the track, hence has no plans to move away when he is at his peak.

What he’s done for me in my career, I’m extremely grateful for, so no matter where your team’s at, you’re the top of the world, if you’re struggling to find speed, like, you’re working together to get where you want to be. Like, there’s never a moment where, like, ‘I could do this and that somewhere else.’ Like that just doesn’t ever cost my mind.

Ryan Blaney said about the extension.

Joey Logano also highlighted how challenging it would have been, if Ryan Blaney made the unimaginable decision to quit. He pointed out that a new teammate will always makes things hard, as it will take around two years to find the balance. Hence consistency matter’s more than ever, when it comes to team building in NASCAR.

It affects the whole team. Anytime there’s a driver change, you got a year of learning what they’re like at each track. And, what’s kind of their train, and what do they want their car? When you’re looking at their notes versus, what you’ve got or their setups and those type of things. It’s not real clear. The picture’s not clear for a couple of years. So, it’s nice to have some consistency.

Joey Logano asserted.

It’s not far off of where we’ve been in the past. I don’t think we’ve had a stretch of races this tough, though. This is probably a little more extreme than we’ve had…You just keep grinding. What are you supposed to do? You can’t quit. You’ve got to keep pushing through. It’s a long season, a long way to go. Yeah, it’s been tough — I can’t hide from that. It’s frustrating; it’s hard. I’ve also been here before.

Joey Logano said.

The comments from the veteran highlights how tough the 2026 season has been for all the Ford drivers other than Ryan Blaney. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star drivers in the coming races of the season.
