The three times NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano is one of the most accomplished racers in the history of stock car racing. Alongside his superior racing skills, the Team Penske Racing veteran is also notorious for being aggressive on the track. He often faces “two faced” allegations, owing to the fact that he is soft person off the track and hard-hitting during the races.
This factor, that many in the racing community such as Kyle Busch hates, has earned him a lot of haters among the fans. Ahead of the Pocono race, Joey Logano addressed the situation and defended himself, explaining why he us misunderstood. He was addressing Prime broadcaster Carl Edwards, a driver that was misjudged the same way in his racing days.
I feel like we can relate a lot to that. Because I feel like when you were racing, everyone looked at Carl as fake…It makes sense to be that way, it’s just hard for people to understand that, I think, right? Not just fans to understand, I think it’s hard for competitors to understand, there can be a switch that you turn on and off.

The No:22 Ford Mustang driver asserted that having this switch of characters of racing and non-racing time is healthy for everyone involved as if not, they will simple be seen as jerks. It’s important to have every racer, like Joey Logano and Carl Edwards, that have an aggressive side to them to find that balance in their life.
And it’s really healthy to have that because if not, if you were the type of person you were on track, off the track, you’d be a real jerk. You know what I mean? It’s not good. So, you’ve gotta find that balance, that balance is really important for me to be able to do that.
Joey Logano added.
So, what is the need to have this aggressive mindset for the drivers? Well, it’s pretty simple for Joey Logano as everyone is coming into the race with the primary goal of securing the victory. The garage is really competitive regardless of situation and having the second face is important to be competitive for the racers.
Yeah, the expectation is always to go out there and win, right? Your competitors are very competitive people within this garage area, it’s what you want to do.
Joey Logano declared.
Why was Carl Edwards misunderstood? Joey Logano explains
The reigning Cup Series champion started the whole conversation, explaining how Carl Edwards was misunderstood. As a person he known for being friendly and soft with everyone, but while racing he was always hard. Logano joked that whenever he saw Edwards in his mirror while racing, he was disturbed as he knew how fierce the competition was going to be.

‘He’s not authentic, he’s not real,’ right? You went through the same thing. Because you were really nice off the race track, and then you were a pretty fierce competitor. You didn’t want to see Carl in your mirror, you’re like, ‘Oh, here we go.’ Like, it wasn’t an easy car to pass and not supposed to be, right? I thought we were racing.
Joey Logano said.
The comments from the veterans seems rational and on point. The NASCAR community needs drivers like Joey Logano on the track, who is willing to go the extra mile and willing to take the extra risk to secure solid finishes. It would be interesting to see how long it would take the fans to really understand Logano as a person and racer.
