The NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicago witnessed some wild moments, especially during the restarts in which racing was more of the drivers playing bumper cars. One of the most significant incidents of the day involved the reigning Cup champion Joey Logano, and Trackhouse Motorsports’ star driver Ross Chastain.

It wasn’t the first time the duo had incidents on the track and nor it is going to be the last time. In the 63 laps of the race, in a restart, Joey Logano was running behind Ross Chastain with Kyle Larson behind him. Since it was restart, everyone was running aggressively and on turn one, the No:5 Chevy send the No:1 Chevy to the tier barrier.

Ross Chastain seems to have made a mistake and thought it was the Team Penske Racing driver that dumped him. He spun out the No:22 Ford with an aggressive move, collecting four more drivers in the process. There was no communication between Chastain, his team and the spotter regarding the incident, hence the driver seemed to have acted independently.

The three times Cup Series champion was furious after getting spun by Chevy driver yet again and went in a radio rant that was filled with curse words. Major reason behind Logano’s frustration is the fact that he knew exactly what happened to the Trackhouse Chevy at the moment and how he had nothing to do with it.

Ross better get the f*cking information right before he goes and wrecks somebody…And there’s f*cking six cars behind me wrecking into me, and then he destroys me from four back. That motherf*cker.

The duo went onto continue the race, with Logano securing a P10 finish while Chastain finished P9 in the race. Once they crossed the finish line, the Ford driver didn’t hesitate and went to the Trackhouse driver to confront him. They had an animated exchange, in which Chastain seems to have admitted his mistake.

Later on, his post-race interview Joey Logano urged NASCAR take action. He pointed out that he was wrecked on purpose and Chastain admitted it during the heated post-race confrontation. Hence Logano wants the sanctioning body to fine the driver for it, as they have fined the likes of Denny Hamlin after similar admission.

Do I think so? Yes, he admitted he wrecked me on purpose. He admitted it. Which means he should get fined if he admittedly wrecked someone on purpose. That’s not OK.

Joey Logano said.

The veteran went on to make shots at the star driver, branding it as typical Ross racing moves and calling him dumb. He highlighted how it was second time the No:1 Chevy has cost him good races on road courses this season.

Typical Ross. He just sees red and does dumb stuff. That’s all. That’s twice this year on road courses at the end of these things I’ve been cost by Ross. I’m just over it.

Joey Logano added.

Going into next week’s race at Watkins Glen, where Joey Logano is the defending winner, the duo will most probably will have another incident, if they get competitive cars. It would be interesting to see how the beef is going to evolve in the coming races.
