The 2026 season will mark the final year for Josh Berry in the Cup Series unless he can find Cup seat for the 2027. Despite strong performance, Wood Brother Racing decided to let the driver move on, a they are embarking a new chapter with Jesse Love. He has been searching for a Cup seat since the announcement and nothing has materialized so far.

After securing his fourth straight top-10 finish of the season at New Hampshire, he was asked about a message he would like to send to the team owner in the sport. He just wanted to them to see his races, see his result and understand the talent that was on display that could benefit their team in the long-run.

You just watch the races. I don’t know what else you can say. I’ve been pretty honest about my feelings with how this stuff works.

Josh Berry told Dustin Albino.

The main issue with signing Josh Berry is the fact that he won’t bring the same amount sponsorship revenue as the many drivers on his same level does and that put’s teams in the pickle. He recently revealed one team asked $3 million in funding from him for a seat. The ex-JRM driver in looking for an owner that would give him a chance not because of money, but because they trust him.

It just boils down to finding someone that believes in me that I can do this. Unfortunately, most of the time, it comes down to how much money you have to find opportunities. Hopefully, something is out there for me.

Josh Berry explains why he was more aggressive than usual at New Hampshire

One key thing that helped the racer secure a top 10 run on Sunday was his aggression. He was taking the fight to the likes of Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace, which is uncharacteristic of the racer as he often avoids risky moves. The racer doesn’t really want to do it, is forced to owing to the career uncertainty and expect his rival to understand the situation.

I don’t know. I mean, just like I’ve said the last few weeks, I’m not doing anything different. I mean, maybe I was a little rougher today than normal. I don’t really like—I don’t necessarily like racing like that, but, I mean, these guys know what I’m up against right now. I mean, I think they—and most of them have a lot of respect for me, so I think they understand.

Josh Berry said.

Further talking about the point, he admitted that moving the rival that is ahead of him to gain position is going to hurt him in the long run and that’s why he doesn’t want to follow the unsustainable path towards result. This comment shows why the majority of the racers respect Berry.

And, you know, it’s not something—knocking everybody out of the way as soon as you get to them is not something that’s sustainable over the course of a cup season. But I think in this scenario, I mean, it’s just fighting for everything you can.

Josh Berry added.

The comments from the veteran driver shows how effort he is putting in over the last few weeks to make a strong case to the garage that he is the driver they should invest in. It would be interesting to see which team would make a move to sign the racer for 2027.
