Bad luck followed her to the Cup Series, as after two stages of uneventful run No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Chevrolet triggered a caution after her right-front wheel got disconnected. They team didn’t give and fix her car enough to get her back on the track. She finished the race P31, 12 laps behind winner Daniel Saurez.
Talking to the media, the racer admitted that he needs some rest after the busy weekend; while asserting she is happy to have the opportunity. After some rest, her team will regroup to schedule rest of the season, after the weekend which in her own words was a calamity of errors with some positives, she can take advantage of.
I think the highlight for me will be when I can finally lay down tonight, because I’m so tired…But, the opportunity to do it, the opportunity to attempt to do it, is the highlight. We are gonna regroup and think about it and reflect to see what we could have done differently. That was kind of a calamity of errors. At the end of the day, I don’t think I made too many mistakes so there’s positives to take from it too.
Katherine Legge told the media as reported by motorsport.com.
The Indy 500 was desperately frustrating for Katherine Legge
Talking to the media after the wreck that ruined her day at Indy, the racer admitted that he was desperately frustrated as she failed the people that invested in her. She revealed her strategy was saving fuel and trying ride out the challenge, with the hopes of finishing the 1100 miles before the wreck changed everything.

Desperately frustrating, you know, everybody involved deserves more. To be taken out by something out of your control, I feel like maybe it’s slightly better than to be taken out by something. I’m gutted…we were just riding, you know, trying to get through the majority of the laps and be really sensible because I wanted to make the 1100 miles, and then it wasn’t expecting that.
Katherine Legge said after Indy 500.

On her way to Charlotte, the female racer admitted that she needs an attitude adjustment before strapping in to start the Coke 600. She seems to have found a way to calm herself down, as if not for the mechanical issue Legge could have had a solid race.
I need to have an attitude adjustment. Because right now, I’m (expletive). I’m disappointed. I need to get on that plane and try to get into the right mindset.
Katherine Legge added.
The comments from the racer are on point and shows her willingness to learn from mistakes instead of blaming circumstances at the age 44, something the upcoming female NASCAR driver should take inspiration from. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the coming races left in her schedule in 2026.
