The Watkins Glen race on Sunday saw Katherine Legge making her second 2026 Cup race start for Live Fast Motorsports. She started the race at P38, after failing tech-inspection and losing her crew chief. The No:78 car finished P35, one lap behind race winner Shane van Gisbergen. The British racer doesn’t have tine to sulk over the tough finish though.

She is set to fly to Indianapolis for the practice sessions for the 2026 Indy 500, as she set to piolet the No:11 Chevy of MD Motorsports and A.J. Foyt Enterprises. The 45-year old’s schedule made some fans point out that she could do the Coca Cola 600-Indy 500 double and when asked about it, Legge admitted that she is ready if an opportunity comes up.

Yes. I think it would be awesome. Right? I think a lot of people have mentioned that, and I think it would definitely be something that e.l.f. would be willing to do, because they want to do all the groundbreaking, really cool stuff there. I hope that I get the opportunity one day down the road.

Katherine Legge said ahead of Watkins Glen race.

It won’t easy though, as the defending Cup champion Kyle Larson attempted the double in 2024 and 2025. The Arrow McLaren-Hendrick Motorsports ventures was a failure with no real result to show for. But Legge isn’t worried though as Katherine Legge is confident in her capabilities, het endurance as well as the support from long-time sponsor e.l.f. cosmetic.

I think I’m in a unique position where I’ve done a lot of miles in whatever I’ve driven…I think my endurance is pretty strong…We train all year. A lot of us train over here to be able to keep our heart rate at the 160 to 180 range, which is what it is in the car for multiple hours at a time…. I’m as fit as I’ve ever been. Probably fitter.  I don’t know. Hopefully one day, I’ll get the opportunity to put that to the test.

Katherine Legge insists she hasn’t shown her full potential in NASCAR yet

In the same conversation, the veteran racer shifted her focus to the stock car racing side and pointed out that she is yet to produce a race that shows her full potential yet in the series. Hence, she is determined to take advantage of all the opportunities that comes her way and sees NASCAR as the coolest series in motorsports she wants to be part of.

I feel like I haven’t shown my potential yet, and I want to, and I want to make a success in stock cars. And so, as long as I get the opportunity, I mean, I work hard for it, too, but as long as the opportunity is there, of course, I’m going to take it, because I have a love for the sport more than anything I want to drive anything that I can get my hands on.  And the cooler, the better, and there’s nothing cooler than NASCAR Cup, right?

Katherine Legge said.

The comments from the veteran racer are on point and seems authentic. Despite being in an age where many racers retire, Legge is making headlines with her attempts to breach the boundaries that challenges female drivers in motorsports. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the racer in the coming years.
