The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season had a wild second race, with Joe Gibbs Racing star Christopher Bell surviving the chaos to secure the victory. But the Toyota racer wasn’t the standout driver on Sunday, as that award goes to Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar, who won the Rookie of The Season award in the 2024 season.

Carson Hocevar had run-ins with Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney, resulting in both of them going on angry rants with the later even confronting him post-race. Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, who is a mentor to the Spire Motorsports racer, also confronted the No:77 Chevy driver. Now ex-racer Kenny Wallace via Coffee with Kenny segment shared his feelings about the youngster.

He pointed out that the young boy is roughing the veterans’ feathers and is making the situation frustrating for them. Wallace then highlighted the irony of Chastain being the one who is confronting Hocevar, considering the former was in the same position a couple of year ago, as even made Rick Hendrick to get involved. This gives the ex-racer the feeling that Hocevar is the sports’ next-superstar.

Carson Hocevar. Young kid. Roughing the veterans’ feathers up and boy they don’t like it. Of all people. Of all people, Ross Chastain is going to have a talk with Carson Hocevar. It was three years ago that the whole field was ready to kill Ross… Remember when Rick Hendrick was mad at Ross and he was having a good old time roughing feathers up? Now our next superstar is Carson Hocevar.

My message to Carson is this, this too shall pass, but you gotta listen to them… So just be respectful. Ross is driving good now, he’s one of the veterans. So, listen to Ross. They’re all going to try to make you feel bad but that’s only because you’re taking their money from them. That’s all there is to it, it’s short and sweet about Carson. He has arrived; he’s been fast. That team’s got it going on now.

Kenny Wallace said.

The NASCAR veteran’s comments show Hocevar doesn’t have to make too much change to his racing style as the criticism is mostly due to some small incidents. But the youngster needs to work on his driving and pace, to ensure he can place himself in a solid position to win races in the coming events of the season.
