The 2024-25 NASCAR Silly season was shaken up after Martin Truex Jr. confirmed at Iowa that he will retire at the end of 2024 season. This has opened a Cup championship worthy ride to youngsters like Chase Briscoe and Noah Gragson to even veterans such as Kyle Busch.

The current RCR driver spent over 15 years of his career at JGR, winning two championships, before moving on in 2022. But with his drop in performance at the Chevy side, it seems Kyle Busch is looking for a way out and there were some rumors that suggested he might return to JGR. He also admitted at Iowa that he is open to such a move but not in 2025, causing major discussions among the community.

Now 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick while discussing the topic pointed out that this move will never happen. He asserted that with his comments Busch has nullified the narrative that he was happy with RCR despite the massive drop in performance compared to the first half of 2023.

So now it just becomes more complicated because you’ve thrown all this out there and is he happy at RCR?. I don’t see any scenario that Joe Gibbs Racing hires Kyle Busch back.

Kevin Harvick explains the motive behind Kyle Busch’s comments

The future Hall of Famer pointed out that the comments made by the driver will be really disappointing for everyone at RCR who is working on the project. He suspects that Busch made his comments to see which seats are available for him beyond 2025.

So that comment to me totally blows the door open for speculation, and all of us speculating on what happens with Kyle Busch, where he’s at with RCR, what the scenario is with RCR. It’s been a tough stretch for the No. 8 car and everybody on that team, with everything that they’ve had go wrong, and now you’ve got those comments. And sure, he might’ve just been — I don’t know. It seems to me like he’s just throwing it out there, to see what the options are on the table.

Kyle Busch has definitely opened the Pandora’s box with his comments and has made Richard Childress doubt his choices. It would be interesting to see how this would play out in the coming races as well as the upcoming season.
