HMS’ Alex Bowman came into the 2024 season with the hopes of redemption, and till the R-12 cut-off race he had it. But his super consistent playoff run came into disappointing end at Roval when his team was disqualified after the race, as the No:48 Chevy was found under-weight. Hence his R-8 spot was given to Joey Logano, who won at Vegas and made it into the championship-4.

Alex Bowman was furious when he got to know about the DQ, and he threw his phone into the pool in frustration. Now 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick. While talking about the DQ in the recent episode of his podcast, pointed out that Bowman is in a mentally tough position over loss, in a year where rumors about HMS axing was being discussed throughout.

Think about it from Alex’s standpoint. When you think about it from Alex’s standpoint, what a year, with talking about losing his job, getting thrown out of the playoffs after you make the playoffs, and the things that he’s had to mentally go through, the guy is obviously pretty mentally tough, because he went to Vegas this week and you know, ran well.

Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

He then went onto highlight the mental toughness shown by the HMS veteran and highlighted how good the No:48 team performed at Las Vegas. Harvick admitted that it is a really tough position for a driver to be in and the whole drama he has been through the whole year made it worse.

Showed up to perform and did what he was supposed to do, from his standpoint…What a tough position to be in, from a driver’s standpoint, to have to deal with everything he’s dealt with this year, and still go out on the race track and perform.

Kevin Harvick gives his verdict on HMS not appealing the DQ

While earlier talking about the drama, Kevin Harvick pointed out that HMS not appealing the decision proved they were guilty of the charges. He also highlighted how the teams VC Jeff Gordon admitted the team messed up and made some mistakes.

I was surprised, but it also told me that they were guilty. I think, at that point, when you know that you don’t have a leg to stand on, you just have to go and kind of say, ‘We messed up,’ and I love the fact that Jeff Gordon said, ‘Hey, we cut it too close. We put ourselves out there, and that’s it,’ and that’s the end of the story.

Kevin Harvick said.

The 2024 season isn’t yet over for Alex Bowman, and he still has a lot to give back to his team. He can help his three teammates to make it into the champinionship-4 either by helping them in the race and playing spoiler by securing race wins in the last two races.
