Kevin Harvick claims “Ford doesn’t want” SHR cars to win races in 2024

The NASCAR community was in shock when No:16 Ford of Chase Briscoe defeated Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch to win the 2024 regular season finale at Darlington Raceway. It was a special win considering Stewart Haas Racing is set to cease their operations at the end of the season and has given them an opportunity to end their NASCAR journey on a high note.
Ex-SHR driver Kevin Harvick vis his podcast shared his views on the impressive win of Chase Briscoe. He credited the impressive crew SHR has for the triumph and surprisingly claimed that Ford doesn’t want the team to win this year because the cars won’t be there in 2025. He doesn’t mean in a negative way as he explained that Ford wants the teams staying with them to defeat SHR cars.
Ultimately, Ford doesn’t want them to win, anymore, I don’t think. They don’t want them to beat their cars that are going to be there next year. I think they want their cars that are going to be there next year to beat that Stewart-Haas car.Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.
While further talking on the point, Harvick pointed out that this “supposed” lack of proper support from the manufacturer isn’t hindering the enthusiasm of SHR crew. They are still thriving on the back of the determination and grit of the whole team.
But that’s not going to hinder the enthusiasm that comes from the people, those employees and those cars, because they’ve shown it all year. … Just a lot of grit and determination from a lot of great racers.Kevin Harvick added.
Chase Briscoe explains why his Darlington win is special
The impressive win at Darlington was really special for Chase Briscoe, as it was his maiden crown jewel race win. In his appearance in the Dale Jr. Download podcast, he also explained how the track being more rewarding for talent over the pure pace of the cars makes the victory more desirable for all the drivers in the sport.
I feel like just Darlington, you know especially inside the industry and especially among the drivers like there's just a respect that comes with if you're able to win at that place. Because they can't discount you know the talent and the ability you have if you can win at Darlington. Like there's no way to cheat your way into winning a Darlington.Chase Briscoe said.
The win proved why Joe Gibbs Racing decided to replace Martin Truex Jr. with Chase Briscoe for the 2024 season and beyond. It will be interesting to see how the playoff season play out for SHR as they will be investing everything on Briscoe for the last 10 races.
