Richard Childress Racing signed Kyle Busch in 2022 with the hopes that the two times Cup champion would help them return to their glory days. But after a flying start to the 2023 season, they have been on a downward spiral from which they are yet escape. This year so far has been one of worst season of Busch’s career as he is consistently having bad cars and getting into wrecks.

First time in a long-time, Kyle Busch was given a No:8 Chevy that is fast enough to secure a top-5 finish last week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But he couldn’t secure the solid finish after wrecking out with just a handful of laps left. While discussing about the same, 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick pointed out that Busch is driving over his head at the moment.

This is a loaded scenario, because I feel like Kyle is driving way over his head. His cars are off the pace certain weeks. But in this scenario, he’s passing Denny Hamlin. He’s in the top five, passing Denny Hamlin, and just way overdrives the corner. Drives into the side of Denny Hamlin and wrecks himself. So, he’s had a ton of bad luck.
Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

He pointed out that though the veteran is handling the frustration and bad luck better than he has done in the past, he is crashing a lot. Harvick shared some blames should be put on Busch as he has crashed out from situation where he was just expected cross the finish line.

He’s as frustrated as I’ve ever seen Kyle Busch in his racing career. He handles it better than he did before. But, he’s also crashing a lot in practice. He’s crashing in these scenarios, where he just needs to finish, gain some points and just get the car rolling across the start-finish-line.

Kevin Harvick asserts Kyle Busch killed the positive momentum he has had

While further talking about the point, Kevin Harvick asserted that the Brickyard 400 wreck was 100% the ex-JGR drivers’ fault. He reckons if Kyle Busch had approached the situation less aggressively as he did the result would have been much better.

Kevin Harvick pointed out that though they have been a lot of situations where Kyle Busch was victim of bad luck, there has also been situation where the veteran messed up making mistakes. He asserted that Busch shouldn’t be making such mistakes in these times.

Even if 50% of (his wrecks) are dumb luck, let’s get the other 50% to the finish line. At some point, you’ve got to be the guy who’s getting those cars to the start-finish-line. You can’t keep making the mistakes that you’re making, when you know you’re way behind the eight ball anyway.
Kevin Harvick said.

Kyle Busch would have agreed with Kevin Harvick on the Brickyard 400 comment, as he apologized to his team over the wreck. He is looking to bounce back after taking some much-needed break and it would be interesting to see how he can bounce back.
