Richard Childress Racing signed Kyle Busch from Joe Gibbs Racing in 2023 with the hopes getting back to their glory days with the veteran as the leader. They proved it was the right decision after winning three races earlier in the season. But as the year 2023 hit mid-season things started to go south for them.
Kyle Busch had a massive downward spiral in form and since then hasn’t been able to win a race. It wasn’t the driver that is to blame for the drop in performance as RCR hasn’t fielded top cars for him consistently as they used to be. Former Cup champion Kevin Harvick is concerned that RCR star might miss out on playoff this season.
He pointed out via his podcast that if one more car win a race this season, Kyle Busch will be out of the playoff conversation and that has hit the panic button for him. Kevin Harvick highlighted that Richard Childress Racing has to find some consistency to stop bleeding and get away with the bad luck.
The panic button for me is Kyle Busch. We talked about Kyle, but the inconsistency of the speed that they have been, and if one more car wins, it's Kyle Bush down a couple spots, and they just need some consistency to be able to stop the bleeding, and it's not all they’re doing; some of it is just bad luck, but they just can't get out of the middle of all the bad luck. Kyle Bush is my big concern.Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.
Kevin Harvick feels sorry for Kyle Busch
When talking about the same topic, the future Hall of Famer sympathized with Kyle Busch and claimed that he feels sorry for how the 2024 season has played out for the Chevy star. He showed concerned not just about the inconsistency, but also about the multiple run-ins he is having at the track.
I’m to the point where I actually feel sorry. I’m starting to feel sorry for Kyle Busch because of everything that is happening.
Kevin Harvick said.
If Busch fails to win a race this season, it will mark the end to his streak of winning at least a Cup race since making full-time debut with HMS. It will be interesting to see how the remaining races of 2024 would playout for the veteran racer and will Harvick’s concern becomes a reality.
