With just four more races left in the regular season, the fight for the play-spots is tightening up, especially with the drivers hoping to make it to the last-16 on points. The major duel is between Trackhosue Racing’s Ross Chastain and 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace, with RFK’s Chris Buescher and JGR’s Ty Gibbs also in the picture.
Ross Chastain is currently placed P16 in the championship table, with just seven points more than Bubba Wallace at P17. Both drivers are also experiencing an opposite trend, with the No:1 Chevy team going through a downward trend while the No:23 Toyota Camry team is back to producing top-10 finishes as they should.
Ex-NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, while talking about the playoff situation highlighted that he is very concerned about the state Ross Chastain is in. He believes unlike the Trackhouse team, Bubba Wallace and his crew and gotten their ship right, is also over the bad luck that has been holding them back.
I’m super concerned for Ross Chastain. I feel like Bubba’s kind of, they’ve got their ship righted. When their ship is right and headed in the right direction, they have more speed than the No:1. The 1 hasn’t shown the speed that the No:23 has in general and they’ve had some bad luck.Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.
Bubba Wallace is in a good mood after Brickyard 400
The 23XI driver pulled of an impressive P5 finish last week at Indy while Ross Chastain had to settle for a P15 finish. This has given Bubba Wallace good momentum going into next race at Richmond and has also bettered his mood.
After a few laps, I was like, ‘I don’t know what we have but it is good to be back on the oval.’ The finish is making my mood better, but it was really difficult to pass. All-in-all, a good day. A good points day.Bubba Wallace said.
The duo will be having some crazy duels in the coming four races of the regular season unless one of them wins a race and secure direct playoff entry. It would be interesting to see how the teams would approach the coming races and w2ho would make it into the last-16.
