The NASCAR community lost one of its most loved and respected drivers Greg Biffle to a plane crash alongside his family. Three other co-passengers also lost their lives in the Statesville Regional Airport tragedy. 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick, who raced Biffle for more than a decade, was one of the many to share heartfelt tribute on social media.

In a statement posted on X, the veteran recalled his first encounter on track with Greg Biffle in the 90s and highlighted how every driver had to give their everything to beat the late racer for a win. That’s what earned Biff a spot in the list of NASCAR’s 25 greatest drivers list. Kevin Harvick also highlighted the humanitarian efforts of the family after Hurricane Helene.

I first raced against Greg Biffle in late models back in the mid-90s. Even then, he was a fierce competitor who never gave an inch. If you beat him, you earned it, and I have great respect for him. I saw that same determination in the tireless commitment Greg and Cristina showed while volunteering in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

The ex-Stewart Haas Racing driver pointed out that the impact of Greg Biffle on the track, that earned him two lower divisions championships, alongside 19 Cup race wins, and off the track will be remembered for years. He shared his condolences to the families of the victims and everyone that lost their lives in the tragedy.

While Greg’s legacy will always live on the track, the impact of the work he and his family did for those affected communities has reached far beyond racing. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and loved ones of Greg, Cristina, Emma, and Ryder, as well as Craig Wadsworth, and Dennis and Jack Dutton, and everyone touched by this tragedy.

Joey Logano shares a heartfelt message on Greg Biffle tragedy

Three times Cup Series champion Joey Logano was another racer to release a statement on the plane crash. He admitted that he is at loss of words over the loss and shares his prayers for the victims of the family. Logano will always remember that late racer for their big on track battles and his Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

Still at a loss for words regarding the tragedy that happened yesterday. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone impacted by this extremely unfortunate incident. I will forever look back on our friendly battles in a race car, but more importantly, I’ll remember Greg for his bravery and huge heart for his immediate actions to help so many after Hurricane Helene struck.

The veteran racer called Biffle a inspiring and champion drivers that earned respect with his performance on as well of the track over the years. He urged everyone to keep their loved ones closer in the holiday season as fate can be unpredictable.

Greg truly inspired so many and that’s why he was a Champion on and off the race track. Prayers to all that were impacted and let us all hug those a little closer to us this holiday season.

The comments from the champion Team Penske driver shows how much the tragedy has shaken the whole racing community ahead of the racing season. It would be interesting to see how Biffle is going to honored by the community in the 2026 season, with him being part of the Hall of Fame ballot.
