The 2025 NASCAR Cup season so far has been a tough battle for two times Champion Kyle Busch. His team hasn’t been able to field a car balanced and capable enough to help him to end his two year long winless streak. Some mistakes from the veteran on the track, means he hasn’t been able to have that one inspiring race that will help him to work more to fight in the Cup.

It seems Kyle Busch might have that perfect moment, but not in any of the NASCAR race. Following the Homestead Miami event, the veteran teased a special announcement on Monday and now its revealed that he is set to race his son Brexton Busch at Millbridge Speedway, marking the first race of the father son duo together.

They have raced in the same race week multiple times in the past, but hasn’t raced against each other in a professional set up. The Salisbury, North Carolina is set to give them the first off potentially many opportunities to have the battle, which he hypes up as the battle of champion and rookie or the battle of father and son.

The dirt race will help Brexton to gain experience of racing the big boys and gain more knowledge. It might also inspire Kyle Busch to work much harder to extend his racing career, as he has revealed multiple times in the past as his dream is to retire from the sport after having a part-time season together with his son in the Truck Series.

What went wrong for Kyle Busch last week at Homestead?

Kyle Busch started the 2025 season with disappointing P31, before having a three-race top-10 streak that helped him to gain confidence only to witness a drop in the performance the last two weeks. The average performance hasn’t earned him much points as he sits 17 in the standing, one points outside the last 16.

Busch came into Maimi on Sunday hoping to gain some momentum, as it has been a track where he has dominated. But he has to settles for a P21 finish with the car not producing enough to help him get upfront, while his teammate Austn Dillon secured a top 15 finish.

Talking about this run, Busch put the blame on the car’s balance. He pointed out that his crew didn’t get the balance right at the start and this resulted in him losing track position. Though they were able to recover late in the race, it was a little too late.

Certainly wasn’t the day we were looking for with our Bank OZK Chevrolet. We definitely missed that setup. Randall [Burnett] and the guys kept working on it with every stop and we were way better at the end. Appreciate the effort they put into it. We never gave up. We’ll keep working on it.

Kyle Busch told post-race.

Going into the upcoming race week at Martinsville, which hasn’t been the best track for Busch in the Next-Gen, the veteran will be hoping for some type of redemption. It will be interesting to see how everything will playout for the No:8 team on Sunday.
