The 2024 NASCAR Cup regular season was chaotic to say the least, with some of the big names of the sport missing out on the playoffs. The list included Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch, Trackhosue Racing’s Ross Chastain and 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace. RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher and FRM’s Michael McDowell are also top talent’s that missed out.

The one driver that hurt the most is without a doubt two times Cup champion Kyle Busch. After having a disappointing start to the season, he made a comeback late in the season with consecutives toip-5 finishes. But the best he could do was two P2 finishes in the last two races of the regular season, making his heartbreak bigger.

The failure to make it into the post-season cost him financially as well as he revealed ahead of the second playoff races of the year that he lost a substantial amount of money. Though it was big hit and disappointment for him, he has already moved on from it. He is now aiming to win races in the post-season.

I’ve lost a substantial amount of money, let’s say, in the last few weeks (because) of not making the playoffs, not getting wins and things like that. That’s a big hit. But again, it is what it is. We just move on. We go through and try to play spoiler now, and try to go out and be a guy that’s on the outside looking in and take victories from these guys who want them to be able to move to the next round.

Ross Chastain shared similar comments over his exit

The 2024 season was also heartbreaking for Ross Chastain who came into the season with a huge Bush sponsorship deal and with expectations of at least making it into the playoffs. So, when his calendar was changed after the failure, he found it hard to get the back-to-back notification of the obligations being removed.

I get notifications whenever stuff gets added or taken off. It was motivation as I just had to watch them ding and pop up, ‘Deleted. Deleted. Deleted.’ So, it was tough. It doesn’t feel good, for sure.
Ross Chastain said.

The same comments can be attributed to the likes of Bubba Wallace, Kyle Busch and more. But these drivers can still redeem their season by securing race wins in the playoffs. They have nine more races in the season left to pull this off.
