The public beef between ex-Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin is the topic of discussion in the NASCAR garage. RCR’s No:8 Chevy driver didn’t like the criticism from the racer he drove along for 15 years calling him out via his podcast.
The 23XI Racing co-owner highlighted on his show that the Chevy driver was struggling for the last five years to really be on the level he should be and the Next-Gen era struggle is making it tough. In response the two-time champion threatened make the No:11 drivers life hell on the track. The moment proved the criticism was taken as a personal attack.
DH: This is not new news, though. We keep talking about this but in his last couple years at Gibbs, things we’re not good. This is not, ‘Oh my gosh, where is this coming from?’ This has been like this for five years…
KB: In this instance, I don’t know that Denny Hamlin even knows what the hell he’s talking about. He can bash me all he wants. I can certainly make his life hell.

On his latest interview with Fox Sports’ Sean Hannity, Kyle Busch was asked about the Denny Hamlin comments again and the veteran didn’t hold back. He called out the 23XI Racing co-owner foe running his mouth and hinted at retaliation on the track. The veteran seems to believe that his ex-teammate called him washed which he didn’t.
I haven’t talked to him a whole lot. We’ve had a couple [run ins], minor ones. He’s got his own podcast, and he’s been running his mouth lately, so he might get run into again here soon. … He’s been telling me that I’m washed up, and I can’t drive anymore.
Kyle Busch told Sean Hannity.

Denny Hamlin has already responded twice to Kyle Busch’s threat
The JGR driver quick to defend himself over the comments from the Chevy driver. He pointed out via X that he was doing what he was supposed to do as a podcaster by answering questions from the fans truthfully and with transparency.

Not really sure what I’m supposed to do. I host a podcast and I have to answer questions about relevant topics. Should I just say I dunno, everything seems fine to me? Not sure where he felt I ‘bashed.’ I’m walking a damn tight rope here.

Later in his interview with Kevin Harvick and Fox Sports crew before the Cup race Kansas, Hamlin once again addressed the situation. He pointed out that how Busch has been the teammate that taught him the most on how to better and how much he is missing that version of the RCR driver. His criticism came because of wish see the old Busch like majority of the racing community.
I have to be honest to the people that tune in and listen. That’s why they listen. But I also have to go on the racetrack with him. And I felt like I was being gentle, and trying to share the blame all around… But I know this: I was teammates with Kyle. He taught me by far more than any teammate I ever was with… I know he’s not loving where he’s at because he’s a tough competitor. I’m rooting for him, because the sport needs the old Kyle.
Denny Hamlin told Kevin Harvick ahead of Kansas race.

The comments from the veteran are on point and also shows how the TRD driver is making more positive statement to remind Busch that his criticism was done with a good intention in mind. It would be interesting to see how the drama is going to affect the duo’s relationship.
