The NASCAR garage was sent into a frenzy when Kyle Busch teased a special announcement on Monday following the disappointing Homestead race. There were rumors about a potential RCR exit from the two times Cup champion. Fortunately, it turned out to be the battle of Busch’s, the first battle on the track between Busch and his son Brexton Busch.

The Busch duo lined up for the 600cc Winged Micros race at Millbridge Speedway midweek. They qualified close with Kyle Busch securing P6 start while on his debut A-Class race Brexton secured P7. The duo had a solid race in the 20 alps feature event, that saw the Cup champion securing a p3 finish taking advantage of his experience.

He though couldn’t win the race though as the victory went to Joey Robinson while Nathan Meendering secured P2. Brexton on the other hand was able to finish just one position better than his start, but considering it is his first race and the pressure of tracing his dad, the youngster proved he has the Busch racing blood in him.

It won’t be the first time the NASCAR community is going to witness the father son battles on the tack, featuring their favorite drivers. 2014 Champion Kevin Harvick is set to race his son Keelan Harvick in multiple events this season. Kyle Larson might also face his son Owen Larson in the coming years on the track.

Will the Millbridge experience Kyle Busch on Sunday?

The Millbridge doesn’t going to have any direct benefit for Busch in a racing perspective as he hasn’t gained any new experience. But on the emotional side its going to help him as the fun of racing his son on the track would have helped him move on from last Sunday’s poor outing.

Kyle Busch talked about the point when asked and asserted this race won’t have any bearing on his form this coming weekend at Martinsville. It helps him to let loose a bit, bit according to him that’s the only thing from dirt racing experience that can be correlated to Cup.

It doesn’t do anything for our race or anything like that for Sunday. It doesn’t give you any prep or nothing. You know, it’s just out here to have fun, let loose, get in the seat, get the heart rate up, that sort of stuff. But as far as dirt racing to NASCAR racing, there’s no correlation.

What will be the Key to performing well at Martinsville for Kyle Busch?

The Richard Childress Racing veteran talked about what is going to be the key to his performance on Sunday in media session at Martinsville. He pointed out that it’s going to be all about getting comfortable with the everything for the long race and not to worry too much about how the race is going to playout, as it will cost him focus.

I think just being able to get comfortable, get settled and make sure that you’re good to go for those long hauls. Don’t worry about what lap it is, ever, during a race. That’s the worst thing that could happen to you. You just try to not ever worry about what lap you’re on or what’s going on around you. You just keep battling, keep driving, keep your focus forward on what you’re doing.

The comments from the two times Cup champion shows he is focused and determined to end the two-year winless streak that has been following him since the second half of the 2023 season. It would be interesting to see if the No:8 crew will finally give him the game changer car he is looking for on Sunday.
