The NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday at the iconic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City witnessed some wild moments, while Shane van Gisbergen secured am dominant 17 second win. One of the most significant incidents of the day happened in the sixth lap of the race, that involved ex-Cup champions Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson.
The No:8 Richard Childress Racing Chevy was racing solid, amidst the rain coming into the Turn 1, inspiring him to make sone aggressive moves. But the veteran Kyle Busch cars got spun and it started a chain of chaos after he got hydroplaned. He slammed into the cars of Kyle Larson, Justin Haley and AJ Allmendinger who were ahead of him.
The incident also collected the likes of Chase Briscoe and Zane Smith, ruining their momentum. While the other drivers were able get back on to the track soon after the incident, the Kyle’s suffered big time. Busch had to retire from the race, while it took Hendrick Motorsports half of the race to get Larson back on the track, fixing the damages.

Just in the rain, I went down into (Turn) 11 and got on the brakes pretty hard and everything was fine. Everything was comfortable, it stopped really good, and I thought okay, I can be a little bit more aggressive this time. Getting back into one and went to the 10 marker, if there is a 10 marker, it’s the bridge, and we’ve been going much past the bridge all day on dries and so wet, I figured it’s going to be fine.

Talking about the incident, Buch took responsibility for it, admitting his decision making in the situation was wrong, as soon as he hit the break coming into the turn everything went south. He admitted that he hates everything that happened on the situation and how his move hurt his rivals, who were just racing alongside him.
As soon as I went to the brakes, it was just on ice, and I was sliding, and so about a second and a half or so, I was just trying to figure out which direction to go, and then I was like, I’ve got to turn this thing around backwards because I’m going to nail some people. So, I hate it for all those that were involved in my mishap there…
Kyle Busch added.
What is Kyle Busch’s plan after latest disappointment?
Further talking about the incident, Buch admitted that he hates how everything turned out for his team and RCR crew, as they came into the race with a string car and impressive qualifying. The rain hurt their chances too much and left them is a tough situation and is determined to redeem himself in the coming weeks.

Hate it for Lucas Oil, and of course, RCR, ECR, the guys. I mean, the car yesterday in qualifying was really good, it felt like we were going to be really sporty in the dry. I hate that the rain came, and now it’s nice and dry, so just have to go fight for more points in another week.
Kyle Busch said.
Other than the Atlanta weekend, the coming four weeks will feature road course races, and all these races can be considered wild card events. Since RCR and Busch aren’t in their best form this season, these races will be their best shot at getting back the momentum. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the No:8 crew in the coming weekends.
