Former Cup champions Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch were involved in a wreck in last weekend’s Enjoy Illinois 300 at Gateway. The incident resulted in the No:8 RCR Chevy suffering significant damages and DNFing from the race, while the No:5 Chevy was able to secure just a P10 in the race. Busch was very critical of Larson after the incident.

Kyle Larson, who was predominantly to blame for the incident, spoke about it ahead of this weekend’s Sonoma Road Course race. The HMS driver used some bold language while giving his opinion and asserted that if he didn’t’ have hit Kyle Busch from the back, the wreck wouldn’t have happened.

I wasn’t going into one to race him and have a d***-measuring contest. I was just trying to make it into the corner. So, yeah if I didn’t touch his quarter we would have raced just fine through one.
Kyle Larson said at Sonoma.

He went on to point out that it was probably his fault the clash happened as he made the veteran furious with the move. Larson reckons that he is over the incident and believes Busch would now be over with it as well.

I look at it as probably more my fault there but into one I know I’m the guy that spun but I don’t feel that part was at all my fault. It’s just racing and he got frustrated and I don’t know, I’m sure he’s not too frustrated with me right now.

Kyle Larson claims he wasn’t stressed about the waiver drama

One of the major discussion points coming into this weekend was Larson finally getting the waiver from NASCAR for missing the Coke 600. But unlike most people in the NASCAR community who was stressed if the Chevy driver would get the waiver, Larson wasn’t.

I cared but the thing I care the most about is the owner championship. At least in that moment. … I was a little less stressed out about it than I think what everyone would imagine you to be. I’m just happy that if I do win a championship now, I can have my name.
Kyle Larson said.

The 2021 Cup champion seems to be in good mood after getting the waiver coming to Sonoma and he is already over with the Busch crash. It would be interesting to see how Busch and Larson will fight each other if they come together in the remaining races.
