Hendrick Motorsports’ 2021 Cup champion Kyle Larson is arguably the biggest racing talent of his generation and his racing prowess is the reason that he is getting a second chance at racing in the 2025 Indy 500 with McLaren. The growing partnership with HMS and McLaren has also opened F1 opportunities for Larson as well.
McLaren racing CEO Zak Brown recently has confirmed that putting Larson in an F1 car is part of their plans, most probably a test run. Kyle Larson, who recently raised some eyebrows claiming he is better all-round racer than Max Verstappen, has responded to this claim and has shown his interest in exploring this opportunity.

He went onto point out that, he would love to do an open test-style like the one after Abu Dhabi GP, the last race of F1 season. Larson wanted to do this because, he needs a proper bar in terms of speed to achieve which won’t be there if he attempts a FP1 session with some other young drivers coming up the F1 ladder.
Kyle Larson explains what will be at stake for him in a potential F1 test
The Hendrick Motorsports driver went onto explain how significant will be his runs if he gets the opportunity. He pointed out that if he runs well, he will prove US oval racers are really good and if he runs bad, it’s the other way around.
The points made by Kyle Larson are legit as if he gets into an F1 car, him being a NASCAR champion, there will be a lot in the line for him to prove. It will be interesting to see how a test will playout when he gets the shot in the future.
