NASCAR and motorsports as whole are a family business, with a lot of racers coming from dynasties of star drivers. There are multiple drivers in the current garage that are part of this legacy or mentoring their children to become part of a new family legacy. Hendrick Motorsports reigning Cup champion Kyle Larson is one of them.
Kyle Larson’s son Owen and daughter Audrey is already producing some good results in the junior racing events. Recently that latter produced an impressive run to win the Red Bluff Outlaws Box stock car race. The two times Cup Series champion is over the moon seeing his daughter on the victory lane.
On his appearance on the High Limit Room podcast for FloRacing, he was asked about the win, and he highlighted how Audrey has already won something he has never been able to do in his racing career. He was happy and excited to be witness the race win, pointing out how the youngster has gotten a better start to her potential racing career that she ever did.
Podcaster: Audrey to Victory Lane at the Red Bluff Outlaws this weekend. That was pretty cool to see. I know you were probably pretty excited about that.
Kyle Larson: Yeah, she’s already done something I’ve not ever been able to do — win a beginning box stock race at Red Bluff. So, she’s already off to a better start than me, but that was really cool. Glad I was able to be there. Audrey to Victory Lane.

Kyle Larson isn’t hands-on with his kids’ racing
On his appearance on the RACER 6th Annual Race Industry Week, the veteran was asked about his involvement with his children’s racing. He admitted that unlike the likes of Kyle Busch or Kevin Harvick, who are heavily invested in their son’s career, he is taking an less intense as well as less hands-on approach.

I don’t know. I mean, I would say I’m not as hands-on as who I guess I could compare myself to, like a Kyle Busch or Kevin Harvick or somebody like that. You know, they’re pretty hands-on and probably more intense with it than I would be. But I also think their kids are a little bit more intense with it too.
Kyle Larson said via The RACER 6th Annual Race Industry Week.
He doesn’t seem to as determined as the others to make the children great racers like him, instead want them to find their own calling. He enjoys watching them race and win. The veteran cherishes the moments when he sees the youngster working hard to become better at what they are doing.
But, um, I don’t know. It’s fun to go there and see them enjoy it, have a good time, you know, hopefully do a good job. For me, you know, seeing them work hard at trying to get better is what makes me proud.
Kyle Larson added.
The approach from the HMS racer is different, but positive as alongside the many dynasty drivers that succeeded there have been many that got crushed under expectations because of their surname. It would be interesting to see how everything is going playout for the young Larsons regarding racing in the coming years.
