Tyler Reddick has once again found himself in an awkward situation after RCR announced the signing of Kyle Busch from JGR. Richard Childress has announced that the JGR veteran will take over the No:8 team from Reddick. The current No:8 driver signing a pre-contract with 23X1 Racing is the major reason behind the move.

Tyler Reddick announced mid-way to the 2022 season that he will move on to 23X1 Racing after his contract with Richard Childress Racing runs out in 2023. The short notice Reddick gave to his team regarding the move caught the RCR crew off-guard. The Kyle Busch move to No:8 car is in a way a kind of their retaliation.

Richard Childress in the Kyle Busch announcement pointed out that Reddick will drive for a new Charter the team will debut next-Season. This means Reddick has to work with two entirely different crews first in 2023 and then in 2024 with 23X1. Now the two times cup race winner has come out expressing his opinion on the matter ahead of the vital Bristol playoff race.

Tyler Reddick acknowledged that a unique challenge awaits him next year with a new group of crew members. But the youngster finds it as a blessing in disguise. This is because of the learning curve he will have at RCR adjusting to a new group in 2023 that might help him in the future at 23X1.

I’m going to be moving on in 2024 and working with a new group of people, a new team. It’s a unique challenge to be able to go through that next year with a new group of people and I think, if anything, it’ll probably help me when I move on to the next place — kind of get used to working with new people and going through that process,” Tyler Reddick said.

Tyler Reddick pointed out that he understood the team’s decision to sign Busch to the No:8 car, saying, “It wasn’t tense. He was just filling me in on what was going on, and I understand because I’m moving on. All good,”.

Tyler Reddick added that from a business standpoint Busch’s signing will be best for the team long term. He acknowledged that he doesn’t take the move as personal compared to individuals looking from the outside.

I looked at it from the business point of view. I feel like how they’re approaching…Kyle coming in and being with the No. 8 team, they’re looking at the future and what’s going to be best for them in the long term. I could understand how people could look at it as personal, but I’m not looking at it that way,” says Tyler Reddick.

Reddick pointed out that he intends to finish what he agreed to do with RCR regardless of which team he will race with, saying, “It’s out of my hands. As I’ve said to everybody, I intend on finishing what I agreed to do to RCR, and I want to see that through to the end. Whether that be the No. 8 car or whatever car it’ll be,”.
