Alex Bowman is desperate for a win to progress in the cup playoffs

Alex Bowman

Alex Bowman has been one of the most impressive drivers behind the wheels of the Next-Gen cars this season. The No:48 Hendrick Motorsports Camaro ZL1 driver is just one win away from securing an entry into the Round of 8. The three, Round of 12 races starting from Texas this Sunday will be a huge challenge for him.

Bowman isn’t just fighting the playoff grid. He also has a personal battle he needs to win, against teammate William Byron. Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott have earned the right to be called the top drivers of HMS.  So, the fight between Byron and Bowman is to be the third best.

The successor to Jimmie Johnson in the iconic No:48 ride, Alex Bowman needs to up his game. Alex Bowman is the only HMS driver not having multiple wins this season. He was only able to secure a solo win this season, which came at Las Vegas. Though he remained fairly consistent since then, his teammate Chase Elliott overshadowed him with his consistency.

Bowman is in the elimination zone in the round of 12 after the point reset, while all three of his teammates are in the safe zone. A win in the coming three races might be his only way to progress in the post-season. His P32 finish last week at Bristol put him in a tough spot for Sunday.

Alex Bowman pointed out that the No:48 team is really focused on approaching one race at a time. He added that they progressed from Round of 16 by implementing the approach. He went on to add that the crew is fired up and is putting in all efforts to give him the best chance possible on race day.

”Our team is really focused on taking it one race at a time. We did that in the Round of 16 to get to where we are now. The crew is really fired up right now and all of us are putting in the time to give ourselves the best chance of success,” Alex Bowman said.

Alex Bowman added that his outgoing Crew Chief Greg Ives is focused on leading the team the right way. He suggested that they need to give attention to small details and remain focused on progress far in the post-season. He added that they are all in for the Texas race win this Sunday.

Greg (Ives) is really focused and leading us really well right now. I think that if we continue to pay attention to the small details and stay focused on one race at a time, we can go really far this postseason. We have Texas (Motor Speedway) circled right now and that’s all that matters,” Alex Bowman added.
