Under the leadership of Brad Keselowski RFK Racing is slowly becoming one of the best teams in the Cup garage and going back to the glory days when Jack Rousch was the sole lead of the team. They got back to winning ways in the Next-Gen era, winning one event in 2022 and three in the 2023 season, alongside a solid playoff entry.

The team has bigger ambitions going into the 2024 season and beyond. The plans include a fourth team and a possible IMSA entry. To kick start all this, they will field a third car in the season opener Daytona 500 under the project name #Stage60. The No. 60 Ford Mustang will be driven by veteran David Ragan.

It won’t be the sole entry of the team this season as they are planning to field cars in Superspeedway and Road Course races throughout 2024. Before 2016 RFK used to be a three-car team and they’ve plans to return to that state but will be doing it methodically. Stage 60 is measured to the path to growth they have identified.

Again, today, you could still just start a team and show up as an unchartered car and run, but the reality of you being competitive is very, very small. So, where we’re at as a company, we don’t want to grow just to grow; I’m not particularly interested in that. We want to grow to be successful, and so it takes a very measured means to do that, and I think that’s what the Stage 60 car represents for us.
Keselowski said, as reported by RACER.

RFK Racing has race-win ambitions with the project

The team envisions more than just entering the races for the sake of it like many teams. They have plans to be competitive and put all three of their cars in position to win races. Brad Keselowski believes the third entry will give them more opportunities to succeed and build a solid base for future expansions.

The last few years, we’ve been in position to win the race with both of our cars and for a number of reasons, it didn’t come together. We’d like to think that having a third car would give us some more strength to hopefully be able to bring that home. To be determined on what the result will be, but the intentions are really good and the effort is really good, and that’s what we can control.

While RFK has big goals for the 2024 season, Keselowski has some personal goals as well. He hasn’t won a single race since exiting Team Penske Racing at the end of 2021. His teammate Chris Buescher is in the same timeframe and has won four races. He will be hoping to end this streak as early as possible in the season.
