Chase Briscoe is desperate for a Cup race to win after a historical penalty for counterfeiting
Chase Briscoe has finished outside the top 15 in the last 5 races of the season.

Chase Briscoe is expected to lead Stewart Haas Racing as the team’s number-one driver once veteran Kevin Harvick leaves the team at the end of the 2023 season. He was the first SHR driver to secure a win last season, his first and only cup win, and was the highest-finishing driver from his team in the championship.
With just 12 races left in the regular season, the youngster is searching for a win alongside his teammate doing the same. None of the SHR drivers have scored a win, and other than Kevin Harvick, no other driver is in the position to secure playoffs without success. Besides a three back-to-back top 5 finish, the No:14 team has been inconsistent this year.
Ahead of the 2023 Sonoma Road course race, he was asked about the team’s new strategy. The L3 penalty imposed on them for counterfeiting has erased any scope of them securing the playoffs without a win. He lost 120 Championship points and 25 playoff points, putting him in a situation where victories are of utmost importance than any results.
“At this point, it’s all about winning. We always show up to win, this just gives us an opportunity to change up our strategy to make it happen. It opens the door for us to pit off strategy or make some different calls when it comes to what we do on a stop,” Briscoe said about the team’s strategy.
“It doesn’t change preparation much. We might have some different options that we look at, but we always want to run up front so we don’t have to do too much differently when it comes to how we prepare.” Briscoe added.

Chase Briscoe believes the No:14 team can win races anywhere

When asked about the track that he hopes to see them in the victory lane, the Ford driver pointed out that his team comes to every race to win, and they can do so. He also weighed in on the upcoming race at Sonoma and said though it hasn’t been his best track so far, he might steal the win.
“I wish I could say anywhere, but in reality, the road courses and short tracks are where we run best. Superspeedways are always a wild card, so you can’t really count them out. I think we have plenty of opportunities to get a win and turn things around,” Chase Briscoe said.
“Sonoma hasn’t been my strongest road course, but maybe we can change that this weekend. We’ve certainly got the determination, and we’ve got a crew chief who has gone to victory lane there with the No. 14 team,” Chase Briscoe added.
