Denny Hamlin had a stormy day at Pocono last weekend as he was revoked of his well-earned win as his No:11 Joe Gibbs Racing Camry along with his teammate Kyle Busch’s No:18 car, which finished p2, was disqualified for infarction in the front end of the car for an infraction. Chase Elliott was awarded the win as he was the third-place finished car which earned him the 3ed win in the last 5 race weekends.
Denny Hamlin did have a really good day at the office until the DQ as he survived an early race near wreck to win the race starting in the pole. Hamlin also had the chance to take his revenge on Ross Chastain as the duo has been sharing some strong sentiments against each other, especially from Hamlin’s spot as he had some nasty nudges from the Trackhouse Racing driver so far this season.
The No:1 car came on the wrong side of Hamlin with 18 laps left in the race. The duo restarted the race together in the front row where Chastain opted for the outside lane but soon after the start Hamlin closed down on Chastain fast and left him very little space for an exit which resulted in him bumping into the wall and later taking out Kevin Harvick as he slid across the track.

The official race winner at Pocono Chase Elliott had his opinion to say on the incident where he pointed out that Denny Hamlin was pretty nice about his revenge as though he did run Chastain up the track the veteran did leave some room for him in the exit. He reiterated that considering all the things that happened among the duo it was pretty kind from the side of Denny Hamlin on what happened there.
“I honestly thought Denny was pretty nice about it. He did run him up the track a little bit but he still left him some room there on the exit after it was all said and done. I thought, all things considered, he [Hamlin] was pretty kind about what went on there,” Chase Elliott said.

Denny Hamlin had a similar sentiment to Chase Elliott on the incident as he asked the reporter what he is expected to do in that situation other than that as he called the incident just Chastain running out of the track. Denny Hamlin went on to say that he isn’t sure about any contact that happened among them adding that he did that part of retaliation for their past incidents.
“I mean, what did you want me to do? What did you expect me to do? We got position on him, and he just ran out of race track,” Denny Hamlin said in his post-race interview.
“We drove in deep and he drove in deep, and I’m not even sure if we made contact; maybe we did. He ended up running out of the racetrack. He knew I was going to race him hard. What else do you want me to do after the wrecks that I’ve had? That’s what we did today,” Denny Hamlin added.
Ross Chastain who was on the receiving end of the incident acknowledged that he had this coming for a long time as he was sure about the fact that his past action had consequences. He pointed out that if he had added smart two months ago or so it would have not gotten to here as he stepped over the line t wreck him in the past races.
“I think we all knew what was owed to me, and today he cashed that in. I know that my actions bear consequences. So, for a month or two, I knew I stepped over the line and wrecked him, so he decided to return it today,” Ross Chastain said.
“No, I had that one coming, and if I would have raced smarter two months ago, I probably would have had plenty of room off Turn 1. I’ve realized that for the last month or two, and it’s just too late for that so…I’ll go onto Indy,” Ross Chastain added.
