In the last two years, Fox Sport, one of the broadcasters of NASCAR, has received huge criticism from racing fans due to the drop in the quality of race coverage. Throughout the 2023 season, Fox received massive criticism for poor race coverage direction and too many advertisements break during the races.

Despite adding fan-favorite retired NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick to their booth in 2024, the coverage of the Dayton 500 weekend receded huge criticism as they missed multiple race-changing moments, and the add-break issues also persisted. Now, they have found themselves in another tussle, this time with the biggest fan base in NASCAR, the Chase Elliott fans.

Recently, Fox Sports sat down for an exclusive interview with the 2022 Cup champion, and the same was broadcast via FS1. One Elliott fan found an editing error in the broadcasted interview, which has caused a stir on social media. While talking about his wins, a short video compilation of the No:9 Chevy drivers’ win at Dover was shown.

In the video, four different shorts were shown. The first one was the No:9 car cruising around the track, then the No:9 crew celebrating the win, Elliott celebrating the win inside the car, and the driver waving the checkered flag at the end. The in-car footage that was shown was actually of Ty Dillon celebrating a stage win. This was easily identifiable because the car fire suit carried a different sponsor than Elliott’s NAPA.

Here is how fans reacted to the Fox Sports’ mistake

Elliott fans were happy about the mistake and quickly shared their displeasure with the broadcaster. They took the opportunity to highlight the average performance race broadcasts director of Fox has been doing over the last few seasons.

A few fans used some harsh words while criticizing, while others were surprised by the misshape as it wasn’t anything new to them. At the end of the day, it would’ve been a genuine mistake from the editor, but considering the bad PR Fox now has in the NASCAR community, efforts could’ve been implemented to tackle this issue.
