Chris Buescher has once again proved to the garage that he is the man to bang on for RFK Racing in the future as he secures his second straight Cup victory on Monday at Michigan. He secured his first win of 2023 last week at Richmond, holding off JGR’s Denny Hamlin, and this race, it was another Joe Gibbs Racing driver he had to hold off in the final laps.

He sustained Ford’s pure dominance at the track despite not having the fastest Car of the weekend. The race’s final laps saw him hunted down by 2017 Cup champion Martin Truex Jr. in the Toyota Rocketship, but the RFK Racing driver secured the win and positioned himself for a deep playoff run.

But one thing he didn’t have on the MIS victory lane was the presence of his wife, Emma Helton. He pointed out that he missed not having her in the victory lane and said she had missed his last three wins. The No:17 Ford driver added that he had to get her back to the track.  The 2015 Xfinity series champion married Emma in 2017 after dating for many years, and they welcomed their daughter Charley last year.

Cool victory here. I got to say, missing my wife. She hasn’t been at the last two wins now – three wins. We’re going to have to get her to a racetrack soon. I didn’t thank her last week. I know she puts up with a lot. I wish she was here. We’ll get to celebrate now,” Buescher said during his post-race interview.

Chris Buescher wants to continue rolling

The Ford driver is not ready to rest after the win, as he pointed out that the coming two road course races, Indy and Watkins Glen, and the regular season finale at Daytona will be another opportunity for them to continue the streak.

I mean, results will do it, right? We’ve got work to do yet. That’s massive progress right there for us to do at two vastly different racetracks. We got road races coming up. I’m excited for those, too. And Daytona. I look at the schedule we have ahead of us. This is a heck of a time to get turned on and get rolling,” Chris Buescher said.

This time again, his boss Brad Keselowski, who also has led a significant portion of the race, saw his effort ending him at P4. While he has a solid playoff cushion, the lack of wins is a bit concerning for him. He will not be able to progress much further in the playoffs if he goes winless.
