Corey LaJoie will race in the Truck series again for the first time since 2014. He will drive the Spire Motorsports No: 7 Chevrolet Silverado RST on the Truick season opener at Daytona, scheduled on Friday. He will race against HMS Cup driver Chase Elliott who is set to drive the No. 35 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing truck on Friday.  LaJoie will also sport the truck at Darlington Raceway in May.

The Staking Pennies host made his Truck Series debut in 2014, his second year in NASCAR. He drove two races that season, the only two he started in the third ties series. His best finish was a P10 at Bristol. LaJoie made his Cup series debut the same season with Randy Humphrey Racing and was able to secure consistent Cup opportunities after that, though all of those starts came with mid-table teams.

Adding the Truck races this year will create some additional excitement and opportunities to find Victory Lane. I’m really looking forward to climbing into the #7 Schluter Systems Chevrolet Silverado at Daytona International Speedway to kick off the season,” LaJoie said.

The return of Schluter Systems as his primary sponsor played a big role in his decision to pursue new racing adventures. They have been one of the long-standing partners of the driver and have been his primary sponsor during his Cup tenure with TriStar Motorsports.

“We are entering our seventh year partnering with Corey LaJoie and our third year with Spire Motorsports. It has been wonderful for the team at Schluter to watch Corey excel and share in his success. We look forward to supporting Corey and the Spire Motorsports team yet again. It’s generated a great deal of excitement for us and we have confidence that the 2023 season will be no different,” Dee DeGooyer, Chief Sales Officer at Schluter-Systems, said while announcing the new deal.

Corey LaJoie had the best Cup season of his career in 2022

Corey LaJoie is one of the less fortunate drivers in the Cup grid who are confined to the midfield. LaJoie is yet to race for a team that can give him a car capable of fighting for the win in most races. Though the Chevy team didn’t give him the top-notch car, they could give him a competitive ride.

He scored his first, and only Cup career top-5 finish in 2022 in Atlanta. LaJoie even came close to a win during the race.  He scored 14 Top 20s last season, the best in his career, and earned a P31 finish in the championship. Though the finish was two places behind his P29 of 2021, he scored more points in 2022 and was consistent throughout the years.

LaJoie has the best opportunity of his career to score his first-ever NASCAR race win. Spire Motorsports Truck team has been racing win contenders in the three races they started in the 2022 season. HMS driver William Byron scored the team’s first Truck win last year, while Austin Hill and Chase Eliott finished in the Top 10 in their respective starts.
