Christopher Bell has been one of the most improved drivers of the 2022 season. The youngest Toyota Camry driver on the grid has already mastered the craft of driving the Next-Gen car. Bell’s performance so far this season is admirable. Two of his championship-winning veteran teammates are already out of the playoffs.
With Kyle Bush and Martin Truex Jr. out of the Championship chase, Joe Gibbs Racing is banking on Bell and Denny Hamlin. The No:20 and No:11 are the only teams to finish inside the top 10 in all three races of Round -16. Both the JGR drivers are above the cut line after the Round of 12-point reset.
Christopher Bell has been to the victory lane only once this season but has been a consistent driver finisher throughout 2022. Bell has secured top 10 finishes in five of the last six races. The only time he failed to do so was in the regular season finale at Daytona. He will be hoping to secure a win if not consistent top 10 finishes to progress to the round of 8.

Christopher Bell said that his regular season form gives him more confidence compared to the position he was in last year at the same time. He pointed out that they failed to perform at the level of a championship chase last year. Bell added that they are performing at the level of a championship chaser this year.
“My performance over the regular season this year makes me feel more comfortable in my position than I was a year ago at this time. Last year, I didn’t feel like we performed like a team capable of racing for a championship, and this year I feel like we’re able to do that,” Christopher Bell said.
He added that he understands his level and what they are capable of on the track. He added that the potential he has in terms of winning races week in and week out has made his race day outings fun.
“In my head, I know where I think I rank up. Just trying to showcase what we’re capable of on the track. I feel like every time we go to the racetrack it’s really fun right now, because we have potential, and we know we have the potential to win week in and week out,” Christopher Bell added.
Christopher Bell pointed out that the Next-Gen cars have excelled in the 1.5 miles races. He added that the start of the season see some amazing races on such tracks. Bell expects this to continue. He added that every driver has evolved and improved their driving skills in the Next-Gen car.
“It seems like these cars have excelled at the mile-and-a-halves. We’ve seen great races at the beginning of the season when we went to these style race tracks. I would expect that to continue. I think that everybody has evolved and got their stuff driving a lot better,” Christopher Bell explained.
