“I feel like that signifies that I’ve made it,” Cup series rookie of the year Austin Cindric reveals the first purchase he made with his first cup driver paycheck

Austin Cindric celebrates his Daytona 500 win
Austin Cindric was one of the most impressive cup piolets of the 2022 season. The Team Penske driver secured the Rookie of the year award in the first official race, as he won the season opener Daytona 500. Cindric marked his name in NASCAR history by becoming the first official race winner in the Next-Gen car.
Though Cindric failed to secure a second win this year, his incredible consistency was good enough to help him progress to the Postseason Round of 12. The No:2 Mustang driver will surely be among the championship favorites in 2023. His teammate Joey Logano’s championship win this season can be the perfect manual for him to follow next year.
In his most recent interview, he and fellow cup series rookies Harrison Burton and Tod Gilliland revealed their first big or significant purchase with their cup driver’s paycheck. Cindric’s important purchase was unique. He brought some tailor-made pants for himself this year as his physical attributes constrain him from finding suitable clothes.
“I have found it very difficult to buy pants. I have a definite waist and inseam because I’m tall but not very big. You can get 36-inch inseams, but you usually have to go to Big & Tall to get those, and I’m not big around [the waist]. So, it’s tough to 32 and 36s or even 32 and 38s, depending on the manufacturer. So, I got some pants tailor-made this year, and I feel like that signifies that I’ve made it,” Austin Cindric told RACER.
What was the first purchase of Austin Cindric’s fellow cup series rookies Harrison Burton and Tod Gilliland

Wood Brothers Racing rookie Harrison Burton had a tough start and impressed the cup grid toward the end of the season. His significant purchase of this season was the house he brought for himself with the paycheck.
“I bought a house. That was cool. It was cool to move out of the apartment and get a house, get furniture, and have a place to call your own and take ownership of it,” Harrison Burton said.
Todd Gilliland gained the respect of the NASCAR community with his impressive Top 10 finishes in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Talladega. He produced some of the best moments Front Row Motorsports had this year. A ring for his fiancée Marissa was his most significant purchase with the paycheck, and it was the biggest purchase of his life.
“I go out to nice dinners. I love food because I’m a big guy, so that’s been about the same. I got Marissa, my fiancee, a ring. I guess that’s probably the biggest purchase in my life so far,” Todd Gilliland said.
