NASCAR will hit the Wisconsin Road America track on Sunday for the Cup Race event which is expected to produce hardcore racing as the fight for the regular-season championship and the few remaining playoff spots intensifies. The Championship leader No:9 Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott will start Sunday’s race on the pole as he topped the charts on Saturday’s qualifiers.
The pole start will be a huge advantage to the defending champion considering the fact that he was able to get the win last time starting at P34. The active driver with more Road Course wins in the cup series, as 7 out of his 15 cup race wins have come in the road course races, topped Stewart Hass Racing driver Chase Briscoe by 0.038 seconds while Elliott’s teammate Kyle Larson will try to ‘chase down the Chases’ starting in P3.
The rest of the top five consist of Tyler Reddick of RCR at P4 and the second best Mustang of the track Team Penske rookie Austin Cindric at P5. The fastest Toyota of the day was No:18 JGR of Kyle Busch who finished P13, as 5 chevies and 7 Ford finished fastest than the Toyota topper. Justin Haley, Corey LaJoie, Loris Hezemans, and Kyle Tilley will start at the rear in the reverse order.

Find out what Chase Elliott had to say about his pole

Reacting to his pole win Chase Elliott acknowledged that he got a different vibe for the racing weekend and pointed out that his car needs some different things added on to it be successful on Sunday. He added that his teams need to do the homework as he doesn’t find them in the right position to succeed tomorrow.
“Definitely a different vibe to the weekend. The car, I think, is going to need some different things to be successful tomorrow. I don’t think we’re as good as we need to be successful tomorrow, as we sit. I want to make sure we do our homework,” Chase Elliott said.
He went on to say that the race is long, 4.048 miles to be exact, and the superior cars that are put into the track will definitely get up to the front regardless of where they start with in some alps down the race. He added though he appreciates the pole he wishes to be good on Sunday than Saturday.
“These races are very long. Typically the cars that are superior find their way to the front, regardless of where they start. It’s nice to get a pole. You want them as much as you can, but I would much rather be good on Sunday than Saturday,” Chase Elliott add.
“I should have run six-tenths faster” Chase Briscoe on P2 finish at the qualifiers

Chase Briscoe who finished P2 in qualifying claimed that he should have finished 6th/10 faster than the way he ran in both rounds pointing out that he blew the chances to do so. He acknowledged that they will be in contention for a win tomorrow if they are able to get his racer instincts on and set his car, which is faster in short runs with long-run form in doubt, on the path of the goal.
“I should have run six-tenths faster than what I ran both rounds and just completely blew it. I definitely have a really good short-run car. I don’t know what it’s going to be like in the long run, but in the short run, it definitely is really good. I’ve just got to put it all together as a race-car driver. If we do that, then we should be on the hunt tomorrow,” Chase Briscoe said.
