Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin is known for his emotional outbursts and candid opinions. The Cup Series Round of Eight cut-off race at Martinsville was no different. He was heard ranting at last year’s champion through his team radio during a caution that came out due to the Penske Racing’s drivers’ actions.

During the starting lap of the race, Logano raced Rookie of the Year Ty Gibbs. The reigning champion spun the JGR youngster, resulting in a multi-car wreck involving RFK Racing’s Brad Keselowski, a former teammate of Logano, and Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez. The incident ended any hopes for a good point-finding day for the trio.

Hamlin’s rant wasn’t due to his concerns for his rookie teammate. The incident cost him the lead for the restart as Logano’s teammate Ryan Blaney took it from him. They had both been having an aggressive battle since the start of the race, and losing the lead in such a way wasn’t acceptable for the 51 times Cup race winner.

Hamlin ranted on the ema radio, targeting both Logano and later Baney, accusing him of backchecking:

F*cking Joey, he's a f*cking piece of shit human. F*cking 12 tried to brake me down the backstretch. [Blaney] got the 24 by the balls, so if he wants to play games.

The race ended with Blaney winning and securing the championship-4 spot, while Hamlin’s charge ended in a disappointing P3. The underwhelming R-8 was the reason for his exit, as he came into the Round as the driver with the most momentum.

A frustrated Hamlin, while addressing the Logano-Gibbs incident, called the two times champions’ move disrespectful. He pointed out that he and Blaney deserved to fight it out for the championship, and Logano shouldn’t have been involved.

The only issue I really had was with Logano knocking out Ty there — knocking Ty into me. Just thought some more respect to be had there. Myself and [Ryan Blaney] are trying to earn a spot in the final four, and I thought we deserved a chance to race it amongst ourselves.

Hamlin said, as reported by Yardbreaker.
