Two-time NASCAR Cup series champion Kyle Busch has pointed out that his plans for the 2023 Cup playoffs are to make sure he commits no silly mistakes and execute. After having an impressive start to the season by scoring three wins, Busch witnessed a huge slump in his performance and is on a cold streak coming to the Round of 16.

While he does have some point cushion thanks to the three wins, Busch, along with Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, are two drivers in danger and lack momentum. The 2009 Xfinity Series champion will do everything he is capable of to secure a deep playoff run. Avoiding mistakes on and off the track will be among the prime objectives.

Kyle Busch believes that he has the potential to help Richard Childress’ No:8 Chevy team to the championship four race to do that, they need to execute on the track and on the pit road. The driver and his crew chief have the prime responsibility of doing it.

To bring home a championship, but more importantly, just make that final four. The potential is there. The stuff is there. The team is there. We just need to execute, and that starts with me. That starts with Randall and snowballs from there,” Kyle Bush said, as reported by Motorsports.com

He pointed out that he can’t afford to do anything stupid, such as speeding on the pit road in the final ten races of the 2023 season. Busch said, “You can’t speed on pit road. You can’t slide through your pit box. You can’t do stupid things that’s going to knock you back ten positions at a time.”

Busch joined Richard Childress Racing, ending his one-and-a-half decade-long partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing at the start of the season. He replaced Tyler Reddick, who later moved to TRD team 23XI Racing.

In the iconic No:8 car, he has produced some of the best moments of the team’s recent history and was competitive from the start of the year. Overcoming the fear of changing teams at RCR quickly helped him to do it.

I think I’ve enjoyed it. Moving teams is always kind of scary, like going to a new school or whatever. It’s kind of unnerving. But it’s been really good. Randall [crew chief Randall Burnett] has made it super easy,” Kyle Busch said.

Busch wants to reward his team for being great to him by doing the very best he can every time. He said, “Everybody at RCR has been great. My thing now is just to try and reward them with the skill and everything that I know. I have to be able to go out there and perform at the best of what I know.”
