Focused and Diligent: How has the 2022 NASCAR season been for the Richard Childress Racing team in the Cup Series

Richard Childress Racing, a professional stock-car racing team hailing from North Carolina, begun by Richard Childress in 1969 and has competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series as well as the ARCA Menards Racing Series and they now actively take part only in the Cup Series and Xfinity Series and their efforts have not gone in vain this season given their performance.

The team currently runs two Cup Series teams, the No.3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 of Austin Dillon and the No.8 3CHI Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driven by Tyler Reddick and the team’s headquarters are based in North Carolina, where the iconic Coca-Cola 600 takes place on account of the Memorial Day Weekend and Tyler Reddick placed 6th whereas Austin Dillon crashed in a late-race wreck finishing ending up not finishing the race.

The team is also home to a total of 14 Championships out of which all six of the NASCAR Cup Series Championships have been achieved by Dale Earnhardt Sr. three times consecutively and have achieved a total of 109 Cup Series victories with 53 pole positions and they have also driven Kevin Harvick who won a Daytona 500 in 2007 with Austin Dillon winning the 2018 Daytona 500 and other legends of the sport like Jeff Burton, Mike Skinner, Ricky Rudd, Neil Bonnett, and Clint Bowyer.

Austin Dillon’s No.3 Chevy on Charlotte Motor Speedway

The two drivers currently stand in succeeding positions in the points table with Tyler Reddick at 14th and Austin Dillon at 15th and the two Cup Series teams fielded by the team have performed quite well this season and their partnerships with other teams like Kaulig Racing, Petty GMS Motorsports, Trackhouse Racing have all significantly played a major role in the team’s performance this season and they appear to be gradually improving with every season.

The No.3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver Austin Dillon is being primarily sponsored by Bass Pro Shops and he is currently running his ninth season with the team and the car his first Cup Series victory was the 2017 Coca-Cola 600 followed by the 2018 Daytona 500 victory and he has no win this season yet but has managed to acquire three top 5s and three top 10s with four top 15s this season.

His best finishes have been the second-place finishes in the Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway and a P3 at Martinsville Speedway in the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 and another finish in P2 in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway with a P9 in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway and consecutive top 10s in the Echopark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas and also in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.

Apart from these, he certainly is a skilled driver when he hops into the car and it is pretty evident in his achievements which include the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship and the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion with a pole at the 2014 Daytona 500 along with few awards namely, 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the year and he definitely has a long way to go in this sport.

Tyler Reddick who drives the No.8 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 primarily sponsored by 3CHI initially ran the No.31 car for RCR as part-time and joined as a full-time Cup Series driver from the 2020 season and despite not having any wins yet, he surely is a very young talented driver who certainly has an outstanding future in the sport given he continues with the same determination and his 2022 season has so far been pretty impressive with this being his fourth year with the team and third in the No.3.

His first two outings at Daytona and Fontana weren’t that great but he came back strong with a seventh-place finish in the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and a P3 in the Ruoff Mortgage 500 at Phoenix Raceway and then went on to acquire a fifth-place finish in the season’s first road course event, Echopark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas and a P2 in the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol and another P2 at Darlington Raceway.

He then went on to place sixth in this year’s iconic and the longest ever Coca-Cola 600 in the history of the sport and he also has one NASCAR Xfinity Series victory to his name this season at Texas Motor Speedway, his achievements include the 2018 and 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion and awards include the 2018 Xfinity Series Rookie of the year and the Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver in 2016, he is still very young and will go down as a pretty successful driver in the near future of the sport.
