“GOAT” NASCAR Twitter reacts to Kevin Harvick equalling Kyle Busch’s cup career win record by topping the charts at Richmond
Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch
In the Federated Auto Parts 400, the 24th round of the championship series, Kevin Harvick finished first among Ford Mustangs and best overall. The No. 4 Stewart Hass Racing driver escaped a tense closing lap duel with Christopher Bell of Joe Gibbs Racing, who was unable to take advantage of the veteran’s errors.
As Richmond was his 60th career victory in a cup race, the 2014 Cup Champion so tied Kyle Busch of JGR for ninth most career victories in the cup series. The veteran, who was deemed done at the start of the season, is now a likely candidate for this year’s title battle thanks to the consecutive victories, which also represented the veteran’s fourth victory at Richmond.
The record holds much significance to the legacy of Kevin Harvick, who is one of the most underrated drivers of his generation and has never gotten the respect and appreciation he deserved since his debut as a rookie. Though Harvick can be taken as the definition of consistency in the cup series for the past few years, the two and half years it took him to get to 60 ins sure hinders his reputation.

NASCAR Twitter had a positive reaction to the record-equalling run by Kevin Harvick, though he had more time at the cup series to do so, and though Kyle Busch is a divisive figure in NACAR the usual negative comments towards him were few compared to the usual ones.
