Just like any other team sport though motorsport racing demands the drivers and crew to give their 100 percent in the efforts to get the team to the victory lane. In racing pit crew for a driver is one of the chief components of success as every piece of a second, they gain or lose on one of those stops that can later either hurt you or reward you big time respectively. NASCAR being one of the fastest and most competitive race series demands a much more efficient pit.

Kevin Harvick, one of the most experienced and appreciated drivers on the grid, is the most recent driver to be part of the long pitstop which hurt his chances for a win so bad as his team messed up in the most important time. The incident occurred in Sonoma, as Harvick who was winless in the last 16 rounds saw him running up front P3 behind eventual winner Daniel Suarez and Chris Buescher, an inefficient effort from his crew saw him fall to P4 at the chequered flag.

Kevin Harvick and Chris Buescher entered the pitlane at the same time with just 29 laps left in the race, the one who exit the lane first had the best opportunity to top Suarez. But Chris exited the Pit in just 12 seconds while Harvick team No:4 Stewart-Hass Racing crew took more than 20 seconds to do so as they experienced some trouble with jacking the left side of the car.

Harvick later called out his crew saying “I swear to god we look like the biggest f***ing bunch of wankers every week on pit road,” which invited criticism of him being too hard on his pit crew. But now Part-time Cup and Xfinity series racer and NBC Sports analyst Parker Kligerman came out in support of the 2014 cup series champion.

Parker Kligerman acknowledged that Kevin Harvick always has been really hard on his pit crews but pointed out that he is a person who demands excellence from his team as he spoke in favor of the veteran. He went on to say that he expects Kevin Harvick to be successful if he had chosen other sports such as NFL or NBA with the attitude he has.

“I know Kevin has always been really hard on his pit crews, but he is a person that demands excellence. You have to understand, Kevin Harvick would have been successful if he chose to be an NFL quarterback, an NBA player, or a race car driver,” Parker Kligerman said.

Parker Kligerman went on to say that Kevin Harvick mentally is a competitor, athlete, and perfectionist who works on and off-screen to make it happen. He went on to say that people have seen the veteran so long in the cup series since he made the debut in 2001, that they now only see the public side of his frustration when things don’t go right and they fail to recognize times that things turned out to be positive. He pointed out that Kevin Harvick is someone who works harder than anyone else on the grid.

“Mentally, as a competitor, as an athlete, that guy is incredible at turning it on and being absolutely perfect and doing the work behind the scenes to be perfect. I think people have known him for so long in the sport and seen that. They see the public side of his frustration when it doesn’t go right and the run-ins he’s had,” says Parker Kligerman.

But he is a top-level driving talent who works as hard, if not harder, than anyone else out there,” added Parker Kligerman.
