“If the musical chairs music stops and I’m still standing and I don’t have a seat, I’m screwed,” Kyle Busch on his contract situation with JGR

Joe Gibbs and Kyle Busch
The 2 times cup series champion with JGR, Kyle Busch is in a tough situation going forwards following his premier sponsor M&M’s cup series exit, which will come to effect at the end of this season, he lacks the sponsorship deal that is feasible for Joe Gibbs to keep the driver in the No:18 car, which the team has been working hard to resolve.
JGR is yet to make any concrete advancement in its negotiations with potential suitors for sponsoring the NO:18 car and the conspiracy surrounding Ty Gibbs cup entry isn’t making things easy. Now Kyle Busch, before getting himself ready for the upcoming Indy cup race has come forth to express his thoughts on the situation.
Find out what Kyle Busch said

Kyle Busch acknowledged that he kind of feels like he is in a position regarding his contact where Dale Earnhardt was in 1998 when he became a free agent just four years after his championship run. He added that he is doubtful about what he should do or how he should fix the situation he is in right now regarding his contract extension.
“It’d be like Dale Earnhardt in 1998, three or four years after winning his last championship, being on the free agency market and not having a ride. That just sounds crazy. I don’t know what to do, how to fix that,” Kyle Busch said.
Kyle Busch went on to say that regardless of the reports that are coming out on him asking big salary for the ride which is false according to him as he has already revealed his intention to take a pay cut for his new contract. He points out that he is ready to drive under his market value considering the situation the market is in.
“You talk about what you want, and I think you are insinuating that I’m asking for the sky on salary or something like that, and I’ve already admitted I’m willing to take concessions. I feel like the market is different than what it was years ago, and I’m willing to race under my market value,” Kyle Busch added.
The No:19 driver went on to say that it’s important for drivers to have sponsorship deals to go forward in NASCAR. He explained the situation he is using a basketball analogy where contrary to the situation the sponsorship deal is in teams won’t offload stars like Michael Jordon or LeBron James.
“You gotta have sponsorship in this sport to go forward. It’s not as simple as being a basketball player and being Michael Jordan or LeBron James and being a really good player and then the team losing a sponsor and then saying, ‘OK, Michael, LeBron, we gotta let you go. We can’t afford you,” says Kyle Busch.
Kyle Busch went on to add that his prime goal is to stay with Joe Gibbs Racing in the similar situation he is in right now. He added that he will be screwed if he fails to secure a seat soon before all runs out which calls him to evaluate and find an efficient solution for the situation he is in.
“My first goal is to be at Joe Gibbs Racing and be with Toyota and have nothing change. If the musical chairs music stops and I’m still standing and I don’t have a seat, I’m screwed. So I have to continue to talk and evaluate each place and each situation and find something,” added Kyle Busch.
