“It’s pretty wild that our wins have not come on 1.5-mile tracks,” Ross Chastain on his upcoming Kansas outing

This weekend, Kansas Speedway will host the Hollywood Casino 400, with the NASCAR Cup Series grid taking the course. Due to their failure to win last week at Darlington, the 16-man playoff grid is predicted to make a comeback in this race, and the season’s winless drivers will be looking for their chance at redemption.
Ross Chastain has been the most improved driver of the 2022 season as the Trackhouse Racing driver went from missing out on his cup seat to entering his maiden cup playoff in a dominant fashion. The No:1 Camaro ZL1 driver has been to the podium twice this season at Talladega and COTA while coming close to a third win on multiple occasions.
Going into the Kansas speedway Ross Chastain will be hoping to secure a win that eluded him last Sunday at Darlington and through the whole season in the 1.5-mile tracks. Though the divers have already raced on the track this year may the temperature change and new tire components add an entirely new dimension to the race challenging the drivers more.

Ross Chastain acknowledged that the sports have evolved really across the board this season same goes for the race cars as well. He added that the season has been a steeper learning curve this season after assembling and testing the Next-Gen car since the last February.
“The sport is evolving this year; really I’d say across the board more than I’ve ever seen, for sure. The race cars are just evolving. We got them basically on pallets over the off-season. We started assembling them; we started testing them and we started racing them in February. We’ve been on this continuous learning curve that this sport always goes through, but it’s just steeper,” Ross Chastain said.
Ross Chastain went on to say that the season was all about starting the car and racing it being new limits and evolving consistently to find out a better geometry for the car to make it run more efficiently.
”We just started with cars that we’ve never raced before; we’ve never wrecked before and we’ve never pushed them to the limits before. So the teams are constantly evolving and finding what geometry and setups work better and keep pushing the limits,” Ross Chastain added.
He went on to say that the Kansas speedway going to be a similar learning curve as the race is going to be very much different from what it has been in the spring race in may as the warmer temperature adds a new dimension to the race. He added that he doesn’t expect the race to go too different from the last one in May as he expects the Stackhouse team to be among the front runners.
“I think Kansas (Speedway) is going to feel similar; the track has only aged a few months and it’s going to be warmer, but it’s not going to be too different from the spring. I think just like then when we were contending within the top-five, I think we’ll have that same speed again,” Ross Chastain explained.
Ross Chastain went on to say that it’s pretty wild that none of the Trackhouse Racing team’s wins came in 1.5 miles tracks though they have been strong in those tracks. He added that though he only has any idea where they will qualify they will be fast throughout the 400 miles of the race.
“It’s pretty wild that our wins have not come on 1.5-mile tracks because I feel like those have been our strongest races. I don’t know how we’ll qualify.. we’re working on that. But the main thing is that we’re fast throughout the race for 400 miles,” says Ross Chastain.
