Joey Logano claims he is still ‘skeptical’ about Ford Cup camp’s resurgence
Ford’s poor state in the 2023 Cup season can explained by the winless run of Stewart Haas Racing.

Defending Cup champion Joey Logano has pointed out that he isn’t completely sold on the idea that Ford teams have marked their resurgence following Chris Buescher and Michael McDowell’s impressive wins. He still believes that the Ford Mustangs still hasn’t made any solid leaps compared to Chevy and Toyota.
Only four drivers have won races for Ford this season. Buescher leads the pack with two wins, while Logano, McDowell, and Ryan Blaney secured one win each. Toyota, on the other hand, has secured seven wins, contributed by four drivers from their six drivers crew. The remaining 13 races were won by Chevy sides, with HMS leading the way with seven wins.
Logano pointed out that the characteristics of Richmond’s track helped them to cover their flows and the individual brilliance of Buescher in that race, and Michigan should be credited for the wins. He pointed out that he refuses to believe the idea until and unless a handful of Ford drivers run together at the top.
“I’m still skeptical for a few reasons. I think Richmond masked a lot of our weaknesses, and if I look at Michigan, the 19 (Truex) was the fastest car, and Buescher did a good job in both of those races. That team executed two perfect races to put themselves at the front and ultimately win both of them. So, the 17 teams should get a lot of credit for that,” Logano told the RACER.

Joey Logano claims Michael McDowell’s brilliance earned him the win at Watkins Glen
One of the major surprises of the 2023 season since Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s Daytona 500 win was Michael Mcdowell’s win at Watkins Glen. While McDriver leading road course races and being a challenger for the podium is no breaking news, the dominant run he had at Glen was a testament to his prowess.
Joey Logano believes the same, and he pointed out that while the No:34 driver dominated the race, the Ford Mustangs struggled. He claimed that until the Fords run together at the top together, the theories are false. He added that they will have the chance in the championship if they can get everything right.
“Last week, McDowell is a good road racer, back against the wall type of situation, definitely brought a lot of speed which really no one else was able to. Until you see all of us up there at the same time, I’d say we’re not quite there yet. But it’s good to see that there is potential if we hit everything just right and we’re absolutely perfect, we can have a chance,” Logano said.
