“Just didn’t have any grip to get off the corner,” Kyle Busch explains what went wrong for him at WWTR

Kyle Busch who drives the No.18 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series contender and part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving the No.51 Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports, his own team, and during the inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 at the World Wide Technology Raceway, he gave a tough run to the winner Joey Logano of Team Penske before finishing second-place in the race.
Kyle Busch is known for his exceptional skills behind the wheel and he started 12th alongside his elder brother, the No.45 Toyota Camry of 23X1 Racing driver Kurt Busch he also led a few laps but as he was almost close to his second victory of the season, a collision from Kevin Harvick’s No.4 Ford Mustang of Stewart-Haas Racing forced the strenuous race into an OT forcing Busch to start alongside Logano and they exchanged positions for a while before Logano cruised to claim his second victory.
“We stayed in the running all day long and fought hard,” said Kyle Busch contended with an almost triumphant run at WWTR
Kyle Busch was questioned about how much of a near-miss his second victory was and he responded by saying that it was no-where a near a win as he slid up the track and almost destroyed his top 5 finish since he had changed his tires and he also had no one up close behind him to be able to get that boost from the draft and he added that he had very less grip which led to the movement up and down the track.
“Not even close. Did you see me about wreck off of Turn 4? Cold tires, firing off on that restart – didn’t have the help behind me. Got into Turn 1 by myself and was too far back, I got a crossover though but threw it into Turn 3 too far. It chattered all four tires. Just didn’t have any grip to get off the corner well enough to be on his outside,” said Kyle Busch.
He further added by saying that his team did a wonderful job with few changes to the car which eliminated the chances of any problems occurring and aided in providing a smooth run and he concluded by saying that though he was quick, his car took time to adjust itself to this short 1.25-mile track and that it performed much better on longer tracks and he hoped he could end up winning but didn’t.
“For as bad as Phoenix was, JGR, the Toyota guys, did a good job getting us some improvements there and at least being able to keep up and have a shot at the win, our car just took too long to come in. Better in the long run. Better up top. The top is not good to fire off on. Again, we stayed in the running all day long and fought hard and thought maybe we could win, but that was it,” concluded Kyle Busch.
Kyle Busch currently stands 2nd in the points table with a victory that already confirms his ticket to the playoffs and he is definitely among those who have a shot at the Championship.
